His brilliance inspires some and earns the admiration of many. Whether in academics or extracurricular pursuits, he has consistently carved a niche for himself, leaving a mark through excellence and quiet determination. Meet Adam Bashneen — an individual whose curiosity extends far beyond the classroom. In yet another candid conversation with us, the Class XI student of Apeejay School, Saket opens up about a newly discovered passion that has captured his imagination: Virtual Reality. From immersive simulations to limitless creative possibilities, he reflects on what draws him to this cutting-edge field and how it is shaping his vision for the future.

Share something about your recent research paper.
My recent research paper explores the ethical challenges of data governance in the age of persistent Augmented Reality, robotics, and biometric technologies. It examines how continuous data capture enables deep behavioural inference, cognitive manipulation, and large-scale surveillance, often without meaningful consent is affecting non-consenting bystanders. The paper utilises case studies in algorithmic recruitment, AR-based law enforcement, consumer wearables, and autonomous robots to highlight the failures of traditional consent and accountability models.
How did you develop interest in augmented reality?
I would give credit of my development of interest in augmented reality to this movie named: Ready Player One. It’s a film set in the future where most of the world is using VR for almost everything around them. I was really fascinated by seeing this and it sparked an interest in me.
How did your school support your initiative?
The school has always supported and helped me further develop my interests. My computer and artificial intelligence teachers consistently sparked my curiosity about emerging technology and were there for me when I needed support to learn more. Even our Principal always provides opportunities for children interested in technology and similar fields to explore themselves and enhance their skills.

What really fascinated you regarding robotics and augmented reality?
What fascinates me the most is how augmented reality, by utilising SLAM (simultaneous localisation and mapping) places digital objects very accurately in the physical world. The new apple vision pro is a very good example of this.
Would you like to pursue a career in this field?
Yes I would love to pursue a career in this field to simulate high-risk tasks in controlled, augmented environments, hence minimising threat to lives and giving people a clear vision on how to do things before they actually do them.
Share your favourite innovations in augmented reality in recent times.
I really like the new meta X Rayban smart glasses. They clearly show how augmented reality devices are becoming more compact and getting integrated in our daily life. They give users hands free interaction with the real world such as getting contextual information, navigation and a lot of other things by just using a neural input.
