Not every classroom teaches you to lead meetings, visit corporate offices, or handle alumni relations—but Apeejay School of Management (ASM) does. Ayush Goyal’s time at Delhi-based B School has been more than lectures and assignments. From taking initiative in the Corporate Resource Centre to visiting top companies like Paytm and EY, he’s gaining a real taste of how businesses work. Here’s how his journey is unfolding. Read edited excerpt:
I chose ASM because of its practical learning approach. It’s not limited to theoretical lessons—the curriculum has a great balance between classroom knowledge and industry exposure.
Why did you choose management studies as a career path?
I did my undergraduation in the same field, so it was natural for me to pursue something related to business and management. I’ve always wanted to work in a domain where I can apply those concepts practically.
Are the faculty members supportive in your learning journey?
Absolutely. The professors guide us well. They don’t just teach—they mentor us to develop a problem-solving mindset, which helps when you step into the industry.
What are some of the extracurricular activities you’ve been a part of at ASM?
I’m part of the core team of the Corporate Resource Centre (CRC). We help organise alumni meets, company visits, and networking sessions. I’ve had the chance to visit the offices of EY and Paytm during alumni events. It’s helped me understand how corporate ecosystems work.
How are you applying ASM’s teachings in your DLF internship?
Everything I learned about financial documents—balance sheets, trial balances, ledgers—is helping me now. The concepts taught at ASM made my transition into the finance department at DLF much smoother.
Any final thoughts on your journey at ASM so far?
It’s been enriching. ASM has given me both technical knowledge and real-world exposure. I feel more confident now as I prepare for my next steps in the industry.
