For someone who spent 14 long and love-filled years at Apeejay School, Noida, every classroom corner and corridor holds a story. From her first day in nursery to her last dance at farewell, Maitri Maheshwari lived the full school life — and how! Now pursuing Economics Honours at Shri Ram College of Commerce (SRCC), Maitri shares how Apeejay Noida shaped her curious mind and confident voice, why she chose Economics over conventional paths, how she cracked CUET with clarity and calm, and what makes life at SRCC a truly rocking experience. Read edited excerpts:
What made you choose Economics as your graduation major?
I’ve always loved Maths, but I also knew I didn’t want to go into pure research. That’s where Economics struck the perfect balance for me — it blends Maths, policy-making and real-world impact. I wanted something that connects logic with purpose, and Economics felt just right. It wasn’t just a subject, it was a direction.
Many commerce students go for CA or B.Com Honours. Why did you choose a different path?
Honestly, Accounts was never my favourite — Maths always felt more natural to me. I couldn’t imagine myself doing Accounts for three years straight. And I didn’t want to follow a set path just because it’s conventional. CA or MBA are great, but I wanted something that kept doors open and left space for exploration.
So why not Maths Honours then?
Good question! I did consider it — in fact, Maths Honours was my third choice on the CUET form. But it’s a very research-heavy path, and I realised I’m more drawn to practical application and policy work than deep theoretical research. Economics felt like the sweet spot between logic and life.
You’ve cracked CUET with flying colours and made it to SRCC! What’s your advice to future aspirants?
Start with your NCERTs — clarity of concepts is everything. I found most subjects manageable, but Maths was tough, especially because CUET papers are designed to be challenging. I spent the last month and a half before the exam fully focused on Maths. Also, give as many mock tests as you can. Practice is your best friend!
Tell us about life at SRCC. What’s it like being part of North Campus and such a legendary college?
It’s honestly one of the most fun phases of my life! SRCC has this unique energy — it’s academically rigorous, sure, but also full of vibrant people who want to do more. Everyone here is serious about studies and equally passionate about extracurriculars. I’ve found my tribe here, and I’m having a blast!
Which societies are you part of?
I’m with the Economics Society and the Consulting Society — both keep me intellectually engaged. And the best part? I’m also part of the Music Society! We even formed a band and performed at IIT Kanpur’s fest last year. It’s amazing to see how academics and art coexist so beautifully here.

What’s the plan after graduation?
As of now, I’d like to pursue a Master’s in Economics. But I’m still exploring. SRCC opens up so many avenues — from policy to consulting to research — and I’m keeping my mind open. Wherever I go, I know I want to keep learning and contributing meaningfully.
Finally, sum up Apeejay Noida in one line?
It’s been the best part of my journey so far — a place where I learned, grew, danced, laughed, and discovered myself.
