August is a month of the Leo sun sign (largely) pun intended. If there is one word the Leo sun sign identifies with, it is brilliance. And so, don’t be surprised to know that this month has given birth to some extraordinary writers from around the world.

Let us explore in this article, the lives and works of five renowned authors, three hailing from international shores and two shining stars are from India. Among these luminaries, also resides a poet, adding an enchanting touch to the literary feast.

Herman Melville (01 August 1819)

Lord Alfred Tennyson  (06 August 1809)

Mary Shelley (30 August 1797) 

This English novelist is celebrated for her iconic work Frankenstein. The novel, born from a haunting dream, explores themes of creation, ambition, and the consequences of playing god.

 Mary Shelley’s artistic philosophy delved into the complexities of human nature and the potential perils of scientific advancement. Through her gothic tale, she presented a cautionary reflection on the pursuit of knowledge and the moral responsibilities that come with it.
