Neha completed her BCA from Apeejay Institute of Management & Engineering Technical Campus (AIMTC), Jalandhar with 9.04 CGPA. A brilliant student, Neha is currently pursuing her MCA from AIMETC with a short-term goal to build a career in cybersecurity and secure a position in a reputed company. However, her broader vision is to contribute positively to society. In addition to her academic pursuits, Neha has a keen interest in travelling, learning new things, and interacting with people to gain new perspectives about life and to learn from their experiences. Recently, the AIMETC student bagged the Dr Stya Paul Award for Human Values and explains how receiving this honour has been truly transformative. Read edited excerpts:
How did you feel when you learnt you’d received the award?
I was overwhelmed, genuinely thrilled as well as emotional. Receiving it felt more motivating and gave me a deeper sense of responsibility to continue serving society.
What values or stills have you developed through this journey?
It’s been a transformative journey. The most significant values I have developed are resilience, perseverance because every project, assignments and exam was a challenge to overcome. Moreover, I have developed communication and leadership skills through active participation in college activities.
Why did you choose Apeejay for education?
choose Apeejay because of its strong academic reputation and its phenomenal legacy and commitment to holistic education. Because it was not about getting a degree only but was about getting the right exposure and platform for professional growth.
What do you think is special about AIMETC? How do you focus on making the most of your time here?
AIMETC is special because of its unique blend of management & technical expertise. It’s not only teaching theory but integrating it with practical realities. The teachers are not just teachers, they are mentors who guide us at every step.
I make the most of my time by taking part in events, taking up leadership values and learning from mentors. I also focus on learning something new while it is academic or life-lessons.
What role has the institute and faculty played in shaping your values?
The institute has played a huge role in shaping who I am today. The professors at AIMETC are more than teachers, they are mentors and role models. They have continuously emphasised on professional ethics and social responsibility alongside academic excellence.
According to you, what is the most important human value everyone should possess?
I believe the most important value is integrity because it is the foundation of every other value. It’s not about being honest when it is easy. It is about doing the right things, even when no one is watching. Because values are like fingerprints, no one is the same, but we learn them everywhere whatever we do.
Do you believe in learning something new every day? How do you implement that?
In a rapidly evolving world, I believe it is essential to learn something new everyday. How I implement it is:
Follow the 30 min rule – daily learning about current affairs through a current affairs app.
Active questioning & Discussion- Daily dedicated 10-15 min far debate with my best friend.
Post Mortem Analysis – After every major project & presentation, I used to analyse where I went wrong and where I did right.
