‘Art has fascinated me since I was in nursery’
This Apeejay School, Kharghar student is passionately painting his way forward
With a heart full of colours, Anant Wathore, a Class 9 student at Apeejay School, Kharghar, is quietly making a name for himself in school. From winning medals at a young age to drawing inspiration from legends like Jamini Roy and Monet, Anant’s journey is one of passion, patience, and perseverance. Whether it’s a school competition or a community event, he brings life to every canvas he touches. Let us learn more about the achiever as he answers some interesting questions.
Since when has art interested you?
Art has fascinated me since I was in nursery. I still remember receiving a silver medal in the Camlin Drawing Competition back then. That day felt special — it was when I discovered my true calling.
How has Apeejay School, Kharghar supported your growth as an artist?
The school has been extremely encouraging. It organises drawing competitions every year, giving the artist in me a chance to showcase my talent. My teachers have always supported me with kind words and motivation, which has helped me improve my skills and stay inspired.
Could you tell us about some of your major achievements in art so far?
I’ve successfully cleared the elementary and intermediate drawing examinations. Apart from the Camlin silver medal, I also won the First Prize in a drawing competition held during the local Lord Ganesh festival. Additionally, I’ve participated in and won several other art contests at the local level.
What artwork are you currently working on?
I am currently recreating Starry Night by Vincent van Gogh. This artwork is part of the upcoming Silver Jubilee celebration at Apeejay School, Kharghar. It’s an honour to contribute something meaningful to this event.
Who are the artists that inspire you?
Jamini Roy and Claude Monet have been my biggest inspirations. I love how they brought uniqueness to their styles and expressed deep meaning through simple forms and colours.
What message would you like to share with the world as a young artist?
I would say — choose any form of art and learn it. It improves your concentration, builds patience, and helps you connect with your inner self. Art is not just about beauty, it’s about growth.
