She bagged an internship with one of the most reputed MNC while pursuing her B.Com from Apeejay Stya University. Meet Ayushi Bhatia, whose aspirations are boundless and limitless. While she is figuring out the best path towards professional achievements, Ayushi shares about a few pit stops at college that are like a blessing in disguise.

What are you doing professionally now?

Securing an internship at Mercer has been a thrilling experience, filled with anticipation for the exceptional opportunity ahead. From the moment I received the offer, I felt a deep sense of pride and accomplishment, knowing I had been chosen for a program renowned for its excellence. As I prepare for the upcoming challenges and growth, I eagerly anticipate immersing myself in Mercer’s dynamic culture, collaborating with industry professionals, and gaining invaluable hands-on experience. This internship is more than just a career milestone; it is a gateway to endless possibilities and a chance to make significant contributions in the consulting field. I am immensely grateful for this opportunity and cannot wait to begin this transformative journey with Mercer.

What does a typical day look like?

Ever since joining, my shift timing is 11:30 pm-8:30 am. After reaching the office, we have a daily meeting called ‘KANBAN MEETING’ in which our team discusses any information or updates which they need to address to all the people in the group, followed by process training where we are assigned tasks. On every Thursday and Fridays, we have group fun activities.

Tell us about your college life.

I’m pursuing B.com Hons ACCA which is a 4 year degree course. Right now I have completed my 3^rd year and started an internship at Marsh McLennan. During college days, I immersed myself in diverse subjects, forged lasting friendships and participated in vibrant campus activities. Late-night study sessions and impromptu adventures became routine, while challenging courses honed my critical thinking skills. Balancing academics with social events, I grew both intellectually and personally, creating memories that I’ll cherish forever.

Share a few nostalgic memories from Apeejay?

My nostalgic memories of Apeejay Stya University are a tapestry of enriching experiences and meaningful connections. I vividly recall the vibrant campus life, where cultural festivals and sports events were the highlights that brought everyone together. Our classes were intellectually stimulating, often sparking lively discussions that continued in the cafeteria over shared meals. The camaraderie among classmates was strong, with group projects turning into lifelong friendships, from bunking classes to hosting events in college.

How are the teachers at Apeejay?

The teachers at Apeejay Stya University were truly exceptional. They combined deep expertise with a passion for teaching, making complex subjects engaging and accessible. Their
open-door policy fostered a supportive environment, where students felt encouraged to seek guidance and share ideas. Beyond academics, they were mentors who inspired us to think critically and pursue our passions. Their dedication and personalised attention significantly enriched my educational experience.

What is your dream and goal in life?

As a B.Com Hons student, my dreams and goals are centered on becoming a successful finance professional. I aim to deepen my understanding of financial markets and corporate finance, ultimately pursuing a career in investment banking or financial consulting. My goal is to gain practical experience through internships, enhance my analytical skills, and eventually attain a leadership position where I can drive strategic financial decisions. Long-term, I aspire to contribute to economic growth and stability, possibly even starting my own firm to mentor future finance professionals.

Any message for the students of the school.

To students in college, I encourage them to embrace every opportunity that comes in their way. Explore diverse interests, engage deeply in their studies, and seek out experiences that challenge and inspire them. Building relationships with peers and mentors, and actively participating in campus activities. Stay curious, be resilient in the face of challenges, and always strive for personal growth. Our college years are a time for exploration and discovery—make the most of it, and pave the way for a bright and fulfilling future.

Your comments on the brain drain trend.

My perspective on the brain drain trend is nuanced. While it reflects global mobility and individual pursuit of opportunities, it also poses challenges for countries losing skilled professionals crucial for economic growth. It underscores the importance of creating environments that retain talent through competitive salaries, supportive policies, and opportunities for professional advancement. At the same time, brain drain can lead to knowledge exchange and global collaboration, benefiting both sending and receiving countries if managed effectively.

How did Apeejay help you hone your skills?

Apeejay Stya University played a pivotal role in honing my skills through its comprehensive curriculum and supportive environment.
