When Jasnoor Kaur joined Apeejay College of Fine Arts (ACFA), Jalandhar she considered herself just an average student – quiet, unsure, and hesitant to step into the spotlight. Today, Jasnoor confidently runs a sole proprietorship, managing clients and vendors with ease – all thanks to the foundation laid during her years at ACFA.

Read edited excerpts:

Jasnoor, how would you describe the person you were when you first stepped into ACFA?

I was never a high-achiever in school. I lacked confidence and avoided speaking or performing in front of others. Starting a business? That felt out of reach. But ACFA changed everything. My teachers helped me find my voice, and now I confidently run my own business venture. It’s a complete transformation, and I owe it all to the college.

What classroom experience or subject at ACFA helped shape your creative thinking?

I didn’t take part in clubs, but I absolutely loved my Home Science practicals. Every day brought a new learning. But sculpture was truly special for me. It awakened the artist within and gave me a medium to express myself creatively.

At what point did the idea of launching your own venture begin to take shape?

In my first year, the thought never crossed my mind. But as I progressed, my teachers kept guiding and supporting me. By the final year, I had developed the courage and clarity to take that leap – and I did.

What core values from college still guide you in your business today?

Two things – consistency and punctuality. ACFA taught me the importance of being regular and dependable, and I’ve carried those values into my work. They’ve helped me build trust with my clients and maintain a strong professional reputation.
