Deepak Kumar Sharma, a third-year BTech Computer Science Engineering student at Apeejay Stya University (ASU), has achieved a significant academic milestone by successfully presenting a research paper at IEEE DELCON 2025, an international conference on Recent Smart Technologies in Engineering for Sustainable Development. The prestigious conference was held at Jamia Millia Islamia and brought together researchers, academicians, and innovators from across the globe. Deepak co-authored the paper with fellow Apeejay student Liannaka Dadi, marking a proud moment for both the students and the university.
Sharing the inspiration behind participating in the conference, Deepak acknowledged the role of his immediate academic environment. “The paper presentation idea was given by my roommate Arpit Raj, who is pursuing a master’s degree in pharmacy. After that discussion, I approached Liannaka to collaborate with me, and we decided to work on the research together,” he said. The interdisciplinary exchange of ideas proved to be the starting point of their research journey.
Elaborating on the process, Deepak highlighted the intense effort and discipline that went into developing the paper. “After several days and nights of research, we began writing the paper under the guidance of our faculty mentors, Dr. (Prof.) Moin Uddin sir and Dr. Divya Kharpra. We followed a structured research approach that focused on in-depth analysis and clarity of concepts,” he shared. Their mentors played a crucial role in refining the research, offering academic direction, and ensuring the paper met international standards.
The journey, however, was not without challenges. Deepak emphasized that balancing academic responsibilities with rigorous research demanded perseverance and teamwork. “There were moments when the workload felt overwhelming, but the support from my co-author and faculty mentors kept us motivated. Every revision taught us something new,” he reflected.
After nearly a month of sustained effort and dedication, the team received the much-awaited confirmation from IEEE. “When we received the email stating that our paper had been selected, it felt incredibly rewarding. All the hard work suddenly felt worth it,” Deepak said, describing the moment with visible pride. The acceptance not only validated their research but also boosted their confidence as young researchers.
For Deepak, the experience of presenting at an international platform has been deeply transformative. He views the achievement not merely as recognition, but as a learning opportunity that has broadened his academic outlook. “This entire journey has been a great learning experience. It taught me how research works in the real world and how ideas can be shaped into meaningful contributions,” he explained.
Looking ahead, Deepak remains ambitious and purpose-driven. Reflecting on his future goals, he stated, “My future aspect is imagining a new idea for humanity that will lead us to a great future. I want my work to contribute positively to society and technological progress.”
Deepak Kumar Sharma’s accomplishment at IEEE DELCON 2025 stands as a testament to the spirit of research, collaboration, and innovation fostered at Apeejay Stya University. His journey serves as an inspiration for fellow students to pursue research, think beyond classrooms, and aspire for global academic platforms.
