Apeejay Stya University (ASU), under the joint aegis of the National Service Scheme (NSS), Rotaract Club, and Unnat Bharat Abhiyan (UBA), observed National Youth Day to commemorate the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda ji, the great philosopher, visionary, and enduring icon of Indian youth. The celebration was organised with the objective of inspiring students towards leadership, national service, self-reliance, and character building, in alignment with the national vision of Viksit Bharat@2047.
As part of the National Youth Day observances, students of Apeejay Stya University participated in a Youth Convention held at VIVA Gurugram, where they gained exposure to motivational and nation-building perspectives. The student delegation was accompanied and guided by Dr. Minaxi, Faculty Coordinator for the visit. The convention was graced by Dr. Deepa Malik, Paralympic Gold Medalist, as the Chief Guest, whose presence and address deeply inspired the participating students. Expressing his enthusiasm, student coordinator Phillip J. Dolo, also Vice President of the Rotaract Club of ASU, described the programme as highly inspiring and thanked the university for providing students with the opportunity to attend the convention.
The on-campus programme commenced on a high note featuring a series of thought-provoking addresses by senior university authorities. Prof. Sanjay Ahirwal, Dean Student Welfare (DSW), emphasised the importance of value-based education and youth empowerment, noting that Swami Vivekananda envisioned a fearless, disciplined, and committed youth capable of integrating knowledge with values for effective nation-building. Dr. Pardeep Kumar, Registrar, highlighted the pivotal role of young citizens in national development and remarked that when youthful energy is channelised with purpose and ethics, it becomes the strongest foundation for a developed India.
The programme was further enriched by the address of the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Prof. (Dr.) Vijay Vir Singh, who encouraged students to align their personal aspirations with national goals. He observed that the ideals of Swami Vivekananda continue to guide India’s progress and urged the youth to lead the nation with innovation, integrity, and a spirit of service. Quoting Swami Vivekananda’s famous exhortation, “Arise, awake and stop not till the goal is achieved,” he motivated students to remain determined in pursuing their goals.
The proceedings were smoothly conducted by Dr. Manju Rani, who served as the Emcee of the programme. The university also organised a ‘Walk for Swadeshi (Swadeshi Sankalp Run)’, coordinated by Dr. Mahesh Sharma, Sports Officer, to promote the spirit of Atmanirbhar Bharat and encourage the adoption of indigenous values and products. The walk witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, NSS volunteers, faculty members, and staff.
Later in the day, the university organised the Viksit Bharat Young Leaders Dialogue (VBYLD) 2026, addressed by the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India. Coordinated by Dr. Manju Rani, the programme provided a national platform for youth leadership and dialogue on India’s developmental roadmap.
The overall National Youth Day Celebration 2026 was coordinated by Dr. Vijay Kumar, Coordinator of NSS, UBA, and Rotaract Club, with support from dedicated student volunteers and guidance from Prof. Sanjay Ahirwal, DSW. The programme concluded with a renewed resolve among students to uphold the timeless ideals of Swami Vivekananda—strength, self-belief, service, and unwavering dedication to the nation.
