Apeejay Stya University (ASU), Gurugram marked a significant step towards engaging academia in nation-building by inaugurating the Viksit Bharat Discussion Forum with an inspiring session titled “Viksit Bharat Abhiyan@2047: An Introduction.” The inaugural event brought together students, faculty, and staff members in a collective spirit of learning, reflection, and action.
The session commenced with an enlightening address by Prof. (Dr.) Vijay Vir Singh, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Apeejay Stya University, who shared a visionary roadmap for achieving the dream of a Viksit Bharat — a fully developed India by 2047, marking the centenary of the nation’s independence. In his keynote address, Prof. Singh elaborated on the various dimensions of India’s developmental journey, highlighting how education, technology, innovation, and citizen participation play a pivotal role in shaping the nation’s progress.

He emphasised that India’s transformation into a developed nation requires a synergy between intellectual growth, technological advancement, and moral responsibility. “The youth of India are not just the beneficiaries but the drivers of this vision,” Prof. Singh noted, urging students to become active participants in shaping a sustainable and inclusive future for the country.
The session saw active participation and enthusiasm from the ASU community, as students and faculty members engaged in a vibrant post-session discussion. Participants shared their thoughts on how individual and institutional contributions can align with national priorities such as skill development, digital empowerment, and environmental sustainability. The discussion reflected the collective commitment of the university fraternity to contribute meaningfully to India’s vision for 2047.
The Viksit Bharat Discussion Forum is envisioned as a bi-monthly platform that will facilitate continuous intellectual dialogue and collaborative action. Under this initiative, selected faculty members will present their research, insights, and perspectives on diverse themes connected to India’s developmental goals — ranging from economic reforms and social equity to innovation in governance and sustainable growth.
The coordination team for the forum includes Dr. Vijay Kumar, Dr. Sonam Raheja, Dr. Shatakshi Shrivastava, and Dr. Manju, who will work together to curate discussions, organize sessions, and ensure active engagement from all academic departments.
Expressing gratitude to the Vice Chancellor for his inspiring leadership, the ASU fraternity acknowledged his role in motivating the university community to align its academic pursuits with the broader national agenda.
The inaugural session of the Viksit Bharat Discussion Forum concluded on a note of optimism and purpose, reaffirming Apeejay Stya University’s commitment to nurturing thought leaders who contribute to the nation’s growth story. With this forum, ASU embarks on a journey to create a vibrant space where ideas meet action — guiding the next generation towards building a truly Viksit Bharat by 2047.
