Apeejay Stya University hosts lecture on Modern Inhaler Medicines

The School of Pharmaceutical Sciences at Apeejay Stya University, Sohna, Gurugram, celebrated National Pharmacy Education Day to commemorate the 124th birth anniversary of Prof. Mahadeva Lal Schroff, who is widely recognised as the pioneer of pharmacy education in India. The celebration included a Guest Lecture on the topic “Recent Advances in Inhaler Medicines.” 

Held with enthusiastic participation from faculty members and students, the program was organised in collaboration with Walter Bushnell, Martin & Harris Laboratories Ltd., and the Indian Pharmaceutical Association – Delhi State Branch, whose support contributed to the successful organization of the event.

The session began with a traditional lamp lighting ceremony, symbolizing the spread of knowledge and wisdom. The ceremony was performed in the presence of the invited guests, faculty members, and students, marking the formal inauguration of the program.

Following the inauguration, Dr. Anupama Diwan delivered the opening address and briefed the audience about the significance of celebrating National Pharmacy Education Day. She highlighted the inspiring journey and pioneering contributions of Prof. M. L. Schroff in introducing and establishing pharmacy education in India. She also informed the audience that Apeejay Stya University has established a Chair in the name of Prof. M. L. Schroff to promote academic and research excellence in pharmaceutical sciences. Dr. Diwan elaborated he role of the Chair, to promote research culture in university and contributing to the advancement of knowledge in pharmaceutical sciences. She also mentioned that the school actively conducts Journal Club sessions, where faculty members and students discuss recent research publications to enhance academic engagement and scientific understanding.


Dr. Diwan warmly welcomed the distinguished guests Mr. Ravi Kochhar and D. K. Majumdar.

The guest lecture was delivered by Mr. Ravi Kochhar, who spoke on the topic “Recent Advances in Inhaler Medicines.” In his lecture, he discussed various inhaler formulations and developments in oronasal drug delivery systems. He elaborated on innovative therapeutic approaches such as insulin delivery through inhalation and the role of inhalation drug delivery in the treatment and management of diseases including Tuberculosis, Asthma, Lung Cancer, and Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease. His lecture provided valuable insights into recent technological advancements in inhalation drug delivery systems.

The session was subsequently reviewed by Dr. D. K. Majumdar, who summarised the key highlights of the lecture and appreciated the informative presentation. 

Following this, M. S. Vyas shared his valuable insights on the topic, further enriching the discussion with his academic and professional perspective. A felicitation ceremony was organized to honor the guest speakers. The felicitation was conducted by Dr. Anupama Diwan and Dr. M. S. Vyas as a token of appreciation for their valuable contribution to the academic session.

The event was organised successfully and concluded with vote of thanks by Ms. Shilpa Chaudhary and National Anthem.
