Apeejay Stya University hosts exposure visit for Government School students under twinning programme

Apeejay Stya University (ASU), Gurugram, recently organised an enriching exposure visit for students of Government School, Hazipur—an adopted village under ASU’s Twinning Programme. The initiative aimed at enhancing the quality of education through partnerships, shared resources, and sustained school–college–university collaboration, with a special focus on empowering students from government schools.

The visiting students, accompanied by their teacher-in-charge, Mrs. Hemlata, were warmly welcomed on the ASU campus and actively participated in a series of thoughtfully planned activities. During the visit, the students also showcased their talents, reflecting confidence, creativity, and immense potential. Their performances were warmly appreciated by the university faculty and staff, creating an encouraging and inclusive learning environment.

As part of the exposure programme, the students were given a guided tour of various academic and support facilities at the University. These included the Medical Room, Computer Laboratories, Central Library, Journalism Studio, Fashion Design Studio, and the Community Radio Station. Interactions with the respective in-charges of these facilities provided the students with valuable insights into modern educational infrastructure, technological advancements, and diverse career opportunities available in higher education.

Welcoming the students, Prof. Sanjay Ahirwal, Dean Students’ Welfare (DSW) and Dean, School of Journalism and Mass Communication (SJMC), motivated them to pursue their aspirations with determination and discipline. He highlighted the transformative power of education and encouraged the students to strive for excellence, irrespective of challenges, inspiring them to believe in their abilities and dreams.

Expressing their excitement, students including Bharti and Yogender shared that this was their first-ever visit to a university campus. They described the experience as highly motivating and enriching, particularly the opportunity to interact with advanced learning facilities and university faculty. The students expressed a strong desire to visit ASU again and shared that the exposure visit had inspired them to study harder and aim for higher education.

The visit was facilitated by Dr. Vijay Kumar, Head, School of Education, and Coordinator of NSS/UBA/Rotaract Club at ASU Gurugram, who actively coordinated the Twinning Programme initiatives. As part of the collaborative engagement, Dr. Vijay Kumar, along with community engagement volunteers, also visited Government School, Hazipur. The ASU team was warmly received by the school administration, where they interacted with Mrs. Preeti Kumari, Principal, Mrs. Deepa, PGT Geography, and other faculty members. Discussions focused on strengthening academic collaboration, mentoring support, experiential learning, and community-based educational initiatives.

Appreciating the initiative, Mrs. Preeti Kumari conveyed her heartfelt gratitude to the ASU Management, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Singh, and Hon’ble Chancellor Madam Mrs. Sushma Paul Berlia Ji for their visionary leadership and continued support in uplifting government school education.

The programme was smoothly coordinated by community engagement volunteers from NSS/UBA/Rotaract Club—Shubham, Krish, Manav, Tanishak, Naitik, Drishti, Ritika, and Payal—who ensured effective coordination and student engagement throughout the visit.

The Twinning Programme reflects Apeejay Stya University’s strong commitment to inclusive education, social responsibility, and community engagement. Through such initiatives, ASU continues to bridge the gap between school and higher education, empowering government school students to aspire towards a brighter and more confident future.
