The National Service Scheme (NSS) of Apeejay Stya University (ASU), Gurugram recently organised a Blood Donation cum Eyes and Dental Check-Up Camp. The event was held in collaboration with the university’s medical partners and aimed at benefiting students, staff, and the residents of the adopted villages.
The camp was part of NSS’ continued efforts to contribute to community welfare and promote health awareness among the university community and its surrounding areas.
The camp was inaugurated by Prof. Ananda Padhan, Head of School of Education (SOE) at ASU, with a motivating address, emphasising the importance of health services and the role of NSS in community outreach. His presence inspired the volunteers and attendees.
Dean Students Welfare Prof. Sanjay Ahirwal, Prof. Moinuddin, Professor Emeritus, School of Engineering & Technology and Mr. Mohsin Khan, Dy. Registrar also visited the camp and motivated the students.


The Thespian Club of Apeejay Stya University performed a short, impactful skit that highlighted the significance of blood donation. The performance was well-received, raising awareness among the audience about the life-saving benefits of donating blood.
The Poster Making competition was held opposite the Arts Gallery. Students creatively depicted the theme of blood donation, spreading awareness through their artistic expressions. The event remained open until 12:15 pm to accommodate late participants.
The quiz which witnessed enthusiastic participation from both students and staff tested participants’ knowledge about blood donation and eye health.
Team consisting of Mr. Kumar Kishan (SPS), Mr. Pranav (SJMC) and their team won first prize in the quiz competition on Blood donation. Results of both the Poster Making and Quiz competitions were announced by the Prof. Ananda Padhan and Mr. Rohtas Lecturer Haryana Government and Master Trainer, Youth Affairs Gurgaon along with other dignitaries. Ms. Lianka Dadi Btech CSE student from SoET won first prize in the poster making competition.


Certificates were distributed to the winners of the competitions as well as to the coordinators and volunteers, appreciating their efforts in making the event a success.
The visiting medical teams were felicitated by Dr. Ananda Padhan and Mr. Rohtas for their valuable service and support in conducting the blood donation, eye check-up, and dental camp.
Dr. Vijay Kumar, NSS Programme Coordinator, extended heartfelt gratitude to the medical teams, volunteers, university authorities, and participants for their enthusiastic contribution to the success of the camp.

The blood donation drive saw generous participation from students and staff, contributing to the blood bank. More than 120 people did their registration for the blood donation camp. Mr. Anbu, Asst. Professor in SJMC, Mr. Avijit, Asst. Professor in SJMC, Mr. Nitin Sharma, Asst Manager HR and Dr. Vijay Kumar, Associate Professor in Education were amongst the donors of the blood in the camp. The eye and dental check-up camps provided valuable health screenings, particularly for the students and residents of the adopted villages.
The camp concluded on a successful note, with the active involvement of the NSS volunteers, faculty, staff, and students contributing to its smooth operation. The event not only provided essential health services but also fostered a sense of social responsibility and awareness within the university and the local community.
