Driven by a strong inclination towards community service and leadership, Srishti Vashisth, student and President of Rotaract Club of Apeejay Stya University Gurugram (RaCASUG), finds purpose in working with people and contributing to initiatives that create meaningful impact. The opportunity to serve society while growing personally inspired her to join Rotaract. With constant encouragement from friends Aditya and Parnika, she confidently embraced the responsibility of serving as President. Read edited excerpts of her interview as she shares her journey:
How did you prepare for the selection process?
Honestly, I didn’t try to prepare anything extraordinary. I focused on being myself, staying confident, and speaking honestly about my vision and intentions. I believed that if I was genuine and clear about why I wanted the role, it would reflect naturally.
Can you share some of the most impactful social or community service projects led by your team?
Our team has led and successfully executed several meaningful projects such as Punya 4.0, Birthday Santa 4.0, blood donation drive, Sava Sang Langar, Meals for Paws, O-Ri-Shraddha, Kaan Daan, and our visit to the old age home.
While each project had its own significance, the blood donation drive was the most impactful for me because it directly saved lives and showed how small efforts can create a huge difference.
How has being part of the Rotaract Club shaped your leadership, communication, and organisational skills?
It taught me how to lead with empathy, communicate clearly with different people, and manage responsibilities effectively. Handling events, coordinating with teams, and making decisions under pressure helped me grow more confident, organised, and emotionally intelligent as a leader.

How do you keep your team motivated while organising club activities?
I believe motivation comes from feeling valued. I try to listen to my team, involve them in decision-making, and appreciate their efforts openly. I make sure everyone feels included and understands the purpose behind what we do. Creating a positive, supportive environment automatically keeps the team motivated and connected.
How has Apeejay Stya University supported the club’s vision and helped you grow as a socially responsible leader?
Apeejay Stya University has been extremely supportive of our club’s vision. Our mentors have always guided us in the right direction and encouraged us to think bigger. The university provided us with opportunities, trust, and recognition, which helped me grow not just as a leader but also as a socially responsible individual.
What advice would you give to students who want to join Rotaract and contribute to social causes?
I would genuinely encourage students to join Rotaract. It gives you the chance to serve the community while building strong connections and friendships. You develop essential skills like leadership and communication, attend informative seminars, and gain valuable exposure. Certificates from this club are accepted by the university, making it both meaningful and beneficial.
