On the occasion of the International Day of Yoga 2025, Apeejay Stya University (ASU), Sohna, Gurugram, joined the nationwide celebration with great enthusiasm by organising Yoga Sangam 2025. Held in collaboration with the Ministry of Ayush and the Haryana Yog Aayog, the event was aligned with the national observance led by Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi from Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh. This year’s theme, “Yoga for One Earth, One Health,” highlighted the essential connection between personal wellness, environmental sustainability, and global health awareness.

The celebration aimed to:

  • Commemorate the International Day of Yoga and uphold India’s cultural and spiritual legacy.
  • Raise awareness about yoga’s physical, mental, and emotional benefits.
  • Encourage students and faculty to integrate yoga into their daily routines.
  • Support the vision of Viksit Bharat Abhiyan (Vision India@2047) through outreach and wellness activities.

The event’s main yoga session was led by Dr. Bhudev, District Yoga Specialist and Nodal Officer, Haryana Yog Aayog, Gurugram. He guided the participants through a holistic session comprising asanas, pranayama, and meditation techniques, emphasising posture correction, stress relief, and overall well-being. His session was designed to be both accessible and enriching, catering to beginners and experienced practitioners alike.

Following the practice session, Dr. Bhudev delivered an insightful interactive talk on “Yoga and Preventive Health.” He stressed the importance of yoga for the youth, particularly in maintaining physical and emotional balance in today’s high-pressure environment. He shared practical strategies for incorporating yoga into daily life to boost immunity, improve concentration, and reduce anxiety.

A reflection and dialogue session followed, where participants shared their personal takeaways and discussed how yoga can be seamlessly woven into academic, professional, and personal spheres. The engaging discussion fostered a deeper connection to the practice and encouraged long-term adoption.

Celebrations at ASU saw an enthusiastic turnout of over 110 participants, including students from NSS and the Rotaract Club, faculty members, administrative staff, and residents from nearby villages. This inclusivity reflected ASU’s commitment to building a strong campus-community bond and promoting wellness beyond its academic boundaries.

In appreciation of his impactful session and ongoing contributions to yoga education, Dr. Bhudev was felicitated by Dr. Pardeep Kumar, Registrar of ASU, with a token of gratitude. The Ministry of AYUSH also officially certified Apeejay Stya University for successfully organising the event as part of the national celebration.

Impact and Takeaways

The event achieved significant outcomes:

  • Enhanced awareness about yoga’s holistic benefits.
  • Reinforced a wellness culture within the university.
  • Inspired participants to adopt yoga as a daily habit.
  • Strengthened ASU’s dedication to sustainable health and community engagement.

Dr. Vijay Kumar, the programme coordinator, extended heartfelt thanks to Dr. Bhudev, Dr. Pardeep Kumar, and the volunteers from NSS and the Rotaract Club, whose collaboration made Yoga Sangam 2025 a resounding success. Sharing his thoughts, Dr Vijay Kumar mentioned, “Yoga is integral to Indian culture and heritage. Yoga promotes peace and harmony within and without. If we want to promote peace and harmony in the world, the answer lies in the Yoga Darshan. Back to Yoga should be Mantras for all.”

The event stood as a vibrant testimony to ASU’s vision of integrating tradition with innovation for a healthier, more conscious future.
