The Apeejay Talent Search Examination (ATSE) is an esteemed platform that challenges students in Classes IX to XII, testing their knowledge in Mathematics, Sciences, Social Sciences, and Mental Ability. Successful candidates are awarded scholarships, providing them with both recognition and motivation to pursue their academic goals. In this conversation, four students from Apeejay School, Mahavir Marg, Jalandhar, who cleared the ATSE, share their experiences, preparation strategies, and how their school supported them in this journey.
Manasvi Mittal: A Two-Time ATSE Achiever

Manasvi Mittal, a Class 10 student, cleared the ATSE for the second time, a feat she proudly shares. “I was surprised and happy when I cleared it again,” she said, reflecting on her journey. Her preparation involved self-study, with a focus on NCERT books and competency-based MCQs for Science and Math. She credits the morning classes and study materials provided by her school, which helped her structure her preparation. “The teachers were always available to clear my doubts and provided great support throughout,” she added.
Balancing her academic studies with ATSE preparation was not difficult for Manasvi, as the syllabus was a continuation from Class 9. She also participates in extracurricular activities such as public speaking and art, with her teachers actively supporting her hobbies. “The values taught at Apeejay have always inspired me to take on challenges confidently, and I look up to my seniors for inspiration,” she said. Looking ahead, she plans to pursue a career in medicine.
Riddhiman Rai: The Importance of Planning and Consistency

Riddhiman Rai, a Class 11 student, followed a well-planned schedule to prepare for the ATSE. “I made a timetable in advance, allocating time for each subject, which helped me balance both ATSE preparation and my regular studies,” he explained. Like Manasvi, Riddhiman focused on NCERT books and utilised the notes provided by his teachers. His family and teachers played a crucial role in keeping him focused and stress-free.
Reflecting on the most challenging aspect of the examination, Riddhiman found MAT to be the toughest. “MAT can come from anywhere, so practising regularly is key,” he advised future aspirants. Apart from academics, Riddhiman values the importance of co-curricular activities. “Debates and other competitions have enhanced my confidence,” he added. With aspirations to become a doctor, Riddhiman is motivated to continue excelling in the medical field.
Arnav Gupta: Balancing Academics with Confidence

Arnav Gupta, another Class 11 student, initially doubted his ability to clear the ATSE, but his hard work paid off. “I was really happy when I found out I cleared it, and my parents were equally thrilled,” he said. His preparation strategy involved revising 10th-grade topics while continuing his studies in Class 11. The special classes organised by the school, along with additional study materials, gave him the edge needed to excel.
The most challenging part of the ATSE for Arnav was the Mental Ability section, which he overcame by practising specific topics such as calendars and clocks. “No special preparation is needed; just clear your concepts from Class 10 and focus on your current syllabus,” he advises. Arnav aims to pursue a career in medicine and is currently preparing for the NEET exam.
Divyansh Gupta: Overcoming Challenges with a Positive Mindset

Divyansh Gupta, a Class 12 Commerce student, approached the ATSE with dedication and a clear study plan. “I spent one hour daily on ATSE preparation while managing my Class 12 studies,” he explained. His teachers provided extra classes and mock tests, helping him to stay on track. He found the Mental Ability section to be the most time-consuming but tackled it with strategic time management.
Divyansh values the social skills and confidence he gained at Apeejay, thanks to opportunities like participating in competitions and stage performances. “The school has a great sports facility and supportive teachers who guide us through challenges,” he said. His advice to future ATSE participants is to follow a structured study plan and make the most of the resources provided by the school.
