Apeejay Institute of Management & Engineering Technical Campus (AIMETC), Jalandhar recently organised a workshop on “Ethical Hacking” in collaboration with Meander Software Private Limited. The workshop was designed for 2nd, 3rd, and 4th year students of B.Tech, BCA, and MCA, aiming to teach them how to identify and protect against cyber threats while emphasising the importance of using these skills for lawful and constructive purposes.
The resource persons, Mr. Anil Chaudhary and Mr. Kamlesh Yadav, trainers from Meander Software Pvt. Ltd., led the session. The workshop began with an introduction to the seven layers of the OSI Model and their roles in network communication. The trainers discussed various types of cyberattacks, such as Man-in-the-Middle (MITM) attacks, N-Maps, ARP spoofing, and FTP protocol vulnerabilities. They also demonstrated a Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attack simulation on the transport layer and addressed the ethical dilemmas associated with hacking.

One of the key highlights of the workshop was the emphasis on the importance of ethical hacking knowledge and the development of critical thinking skills. The trainers highlighted recent cyberattacks, including those targeting Microsoft, and discussed the coding and non-coding job opportunities in the IT sector. They provided insights on how students can pursue careers in this field, stressing the importance of ethical practices in cybersecurity.
The workshop was attended by approximately 55 students and six faculty members. Dr. Avnip Deora, Dean of SOE, Dr. Amarjeet Kaur, HOD of SOE, Mr. Rajiv Kumar, HOD of SIT, and faculty coordinators Ms. Rajveer Kaur and Mr. Amarpreet Singh played key roles in organising the event.

Dr. Rajesh Bagga, Director of AIMETC, commended the faculty’s efforts in organizing this impactful workshop. He encouraged students to participate in such extracurricular activities for their holistic development, emphasising the importance of staying updated with the latest industry trends and ethical practices.
