Apeejay students know the value of being born on Indian soil

NSS Wing of Apeejay College of Fine Arts (ACFA) hoist the tricolour under the ‘Meri Mati Mera Desh’ campaign

Since times immemorial, poets across different languages and cultures in India have written about the fortune of being born in the soil of this ancient land. It is thus no surprise that the phrase Meri Mati Mera Desh strikes a deep chord in our hearts.

Students from the National Service Scheme (NSS) wing from Apeejay College of Fine Arts (ACFA) in Jalandhar recently went a step ahead by hoisting the tricolour under a campaign named Meri Mati Mera Desh to mark Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav from August 9 to 15. Students hoisted the national flag under this scheme, which is an initiative undertaken by the National Service Scheme, Chandigarh; Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports and Government of India.

Dr. Neerja Dhingra, Principal of the college, along with the faculty members unfurled the tricolor as everyone present saluted the national flag. Filled with enthusiasm, students decorated the campus in tricolour which led to a wave of patriotism flowing within every individual. Each and every student immersed themselves in the ceremony by holding little flags in their hands, thereby upholding the significance of the slogan ‘Har Ghar Tiranga Ghar Ghar Tiranga’ given by the honourable Prime Minister .

Dr. Dhingra encouraged all students on the auspicious occasion. She mentioned, “Firstly, wishing everyone a very happy independence day! The dedication and passion with which our students have celebrated the entire week of Independence speaks for itself. This ensures that they will certainly become responsible citizens in the future and will fulfill their duties sincerely and contribute to the development of the country.”

 She further added, “I appreciate the efforts of Dr. Simkee Dev, Dean, NSS Wing, for successfully organising this activity. I hope she keeps up with the good work. Jai Hind and once again a happy independence day to all! Let’s work together to make the nation proud!”
