A proud moment unfolded for Apeejay College of Fine Arts, Jalandhar as its students brought laurels to the institution by winning a Bronze Medal at the Senior Punjab State Fencing Championship (Men & Women) 2025–26. The prestigious championship was organised by the Punjab Fencing Association at the renowned Guru Nanak Dev University, providing a competitive platform for the finest fencing talent across the state.
Representing the college with remarkable determination and skill, Asees Kaur, a BCA 5th Semester student, and Jagseerat Kaur, a student of M.Voc Digital Marketing 1st Semester, delivered an outstanding performance in the Senior Épée category. Competing against experienced and highly trained fencers from across Punjab, both athletes displayed exceptional agility, focus, and technical precision to secure the Bronze Medal. Their achievement stands as a testimony to their perseverance, rigorous training, and unwavering commitment to excellence in sports.
The victory is particularly significant as it highlights the institution’s consistent efforts to promote not only academic and cultural excellence but also sporting brilliance. The college has long nurtured a holistic learning environment where students are encouraged to pursue their passions alongside formal education. The success of Asees and Jagseerat reflects this balanced approach that empowers students to excel on multiple fronts.
Expressing immense pride in the achievement, Dr. Neerja Dhingra, Principal of the college, congratulated both the medal winners on their commendable performance. She stated that it is heartening to witness students excelling with equal dedication in academics, cultural activities, and sports. Dr. Dhingra encouraged the young fencers to continue striving for greater heights and expressed confidence that their hard work and discipline would soon translate into a Gold Medal at future championships.
She also took a moment to appreciate the sincere efforts and dedicated mentorship of Sahil Mahey, Faculty, Department of Physical Education. His continuous guidance, technical training, and motivational support played a crucial role in preparing the students for the championship. Dr. Dhingra lauded his commitment to nurturing young sporting talent and urged him to continue inspiring students with the same enthusiasm.
The Bronze Medal win at the Punjab State Championship is not merely a sporting achievement but a symbol of grit, discipline, and the relentless pursuit of excellence.
