Apeejay College of Fine Arts (ACFA), Jalandhar has added another proud moment to its distinguished legacy as its talented student, Harmehar Singh Lali, secured remarkable victories at the 16th Asian Skeet Shooting Championship held in Kazakhstan. A fifth-semester Bachelor of Design student, Harmehar brought immense honour to the institution by winning two gold medals and one silver medal, reaffirming the college’s commitment to nurturing excellence across diverse fields.
Competing against top shooters from across Asia, Harmehar showcased exceptional skill, precision, and composure. He clinched gold medals in both the Skeet Shooting Junior Team (Men) and Skeet Shooting Junior Mixed Team events. Adding to this success, he earned a silver medal in the Skeet Shooting Junior Men Individual category, a testament to his individual strength and dedication to the sport. His stellar performance not only elevated ACFA’s reputation but also filled his family with immense pride.
Harmehar’s achievements at the Asian Championship follow his impressive participation in the International Sports Shooting Federation (ISSF) Junior World Cup held earlier in New Delhi, where he secured a commendable fourth place while representing India. This consistent rise at international shooting events highlights his growing prowess and promising future in the sport.
Principal Dr. Neerja Dhingra extended heartfelt congratulations to Harmehar for his outstanding feat. Expressing deep pride in his accomplishments, she noted that his success reflects the hard work, discipline, and passion he brings to his training. Dr. Dhingra added that such achievements inspire other students to pursue their goals with equal determination. She wished him continued glory in the world of skeet shooting and expressed confidence that he will keep making the nation proud on global platforms.
Dr. Dhingra also acknowledged the significant role played by Mr. Sahil Mahey, faculty member in the Department of Physical Education, who has been instrumental in mentoring and guiding Harmehar. She appreciated his dedication and consistent support, which contributed meaningfully to the student’s success.
Harmehar’s victory stands as a shining example of Apeejay College of Fine Arts’ commitment to fostering holistic development—encouraging not just academic excellence but also achievement in sports, arts, and other co-curricular fields. His accomplishments at the Asian level reinforce the college’s reputation as an institution that continually nurtures talent capable of excelling on international stages.
