Aryan Sharma, who pursued his BCom (Honours) from the School of Management Sciences at Apeejay Stya University (ASU) explained that his interest in research is deeply rooted in understanding the dynamic interplay between technology, communication, and finance. “I am passionate about exploring how technological advancements influence financial policies and practices, and I aim to contribute to the academic and professional discourse through my research endeavours,” he emphasised.
Thus, Aryan’s passion for research led to participate in the recently held Budget Symposium event in which he won the first position. In this interview, he shares about his participation and more:
When did you start with this research project? Tell us what it is about.
The research project for the “Budget Symposium” began at the start of the semester, focusing on analysing the Interim Budget 2024-25 and its implications for the technology and communication sectors. This project aimed to uncover the critical impacts of budgetary allocations and policies on these transformative sectors, highlighting their significance in the modern financial landscape.
How long did it take you to work on this from start to end? Tell us about the journey.
The journey spanned several weeks, culminating in the symposium. Key phases included:

– Initial Research: Conducting a thorough review of the Interim Budget 2024-25 to identify relevant themes and impacts.
– Analysis and Preparation: Analysing the data and preparing a presentation that effectively communicated my findings and insights.
– Mentor Guidance:* Regular consultations with Professor Neha Thakur, whose expertise and feedback were invaluable.
– Presentation and Symposium: Delivering my presentation at the symposium, where I competed against six other participants.
Two challenges to keep in mind when conducting research work.
1. Data Interpretation: Ensuring accurate interpretation of budgetary data and its implications for technology and communication.
2. Effective Communication: Developing a presentation that clearly conveys complex information in an engaging and understandable manner.

How did mentors at Apeejay help you to execute this?
Professor Neha Thakur provided unwavering support and guidance throughout the process. Her contributions included:
– Expert Feedback: Offering critical insights and suggestions to refine my analysis and presentation.
– Encouragement: Motivating me to pursue excellence and confidently present my findings.
– Resource Support: Providing access to necessary resources and materials for comprehensive research.
