Students of Apeejay College of Fine Arts (ACFA), Jalandhar, have consistently upheld the institution’s legacy of excellence through their outstanding achievements across academics, sports, and cultural activities. Adding another feather to the college’s cap, Sahil Chawla, an NSS volunteer pursuing the B.Voc. E-Commerce and Digital Marketing programme, brought national recognition to the institution by participating in the Republic Day Parade at Kartavya Path, New Delhi, as a member of the NSS Marching Contingent.
Sahil’s selection for the prestigious Republic Day Parade stands out as a remarkable accomplishment, especially considering that only two male volunteers from the entire state of Punjab were chosen for this honour. His inclusion in the national contingent is a testament to his discipline, commitment, and dedication to the ideals of service and patriotism that the National Service Scheme seeks to instil among youth. Representing both his college and his state on such a distinguished platform, Sahil exemplified the spirit of unity and national pride that defines the Republic Day celebrations.

During his stay in the national capital, Sahil was also accorded the rare and enriching opportunity to interact with some of the country’s highest constitutional and political leaders. He had the privilege of meeting the Hon’ble President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu, the Hon’ble Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, and the Union Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports, Shri Mansukh Mandaviya. These interactions offered him valuable inspiration and a deeper understanding of leadership, governance, and public service, making the experience truly transformative.
Adding a vibrant cultural dimension to the celebrations, Sahil also performed Bhangra during the Republic Day events, captivating audiences with the energy and rhythm of Punjab’s traditional folk dance. Through his performance, he proudly showcased the rich cultural heritage of the state on a national stage, reinforcing the idea that India’s unity is strengthened by the diversity of its regional traditions. His cultural presentation complemented his role as an NSS volunteer, reflecting a harmonious blend of service, discipline, and artistic expression.

Congratulating Sahil Chawla on his outstanding achievement, Principal Dr. Neerja Dhingra expressed immense pride in his dedication and commitment to the nation. She lauded his discipline, perseverance, and sense of responsibility, noting that his success serves as a source of inspiration for fellow students. Dr. Dhingra extended her best wishes to Sahil for continued success in his future endeavours and encouraged him to keep striving for higher milestones of excellence. She also acknowledged the dedicated guidance and mentorship provided by Dr. Simki Dev, Dean of the NSS Wing, whose efforts played a pivotal role in shaping and supporting this remarkable accomplishment.
Sahil Chawla’s participation in the Republic Day Parade not only marks a personal milestone but also reaffirms Apeejay College of Fine Arts’ commitment to nurturing socially responsible, culturally rooted, and nationally conscious citizens.
