Apeejay School, Saket, recently hosted an inspiring event that showcased the determination and creativity of its young learners. Students of Class 6A participated in a unique and engaging coastline-marking activity as part of the school’s RIDS (Reduce, Innovate, Develop, Sustain) project. The initiative aimed to raise awareness about waste reduction, environmental conservation, and the critical need for climate change mitigation.

The activity centered around mapping the coastlines of partner countries, offering students a practical and interactive way to understand the significance of preserving our planet’s water bodies. While meticulously tracing the shapes of global coastlines, the students also explored the far-reaching effects of human activity on marine ecosystems. They learned how pollution, rising sea levels, and habitat destruction threaten not only coastlines but also the survival of countless species and communities that depend on them.

“In our pursuit of making students confident, self-reliant, and nurturing their outshining personalities,” said Dr. Sujeet Eic Masih, Principal of Apeejay School, Saket, while highlighting the importance of such initiatives.

This hands-on approach to education went beyond geography, introducing the students to the pressing realities of climate change. Global warming has led to unprecedented challenges: glaciers are melting, sea levels are rising, and extreme weather events are becoming more frequent. The activity served as a powerful reminder of the interconnectedness of our actions and their impact on the environment.

The coastline-marking session also highlighted simple yet impactful measures individuals can take to combat these challenges. Students were encouraged to think about everyday actions like reducing waste, conserving water, and embracing sustainable habits that can collectively make a significant difference.

The event left an indelible mark on the young participants, igniting their passion for environmental stewardship. It reinforced the idea that children are not just passive observers but active contributors to a sustainable future.

In a world grappling with the escalating effects of climate change, initiatives like these are a beacon of hope. They remind us that no effort is too small when it comes to protecting our planet, and every step toward sustainability counts. Apeejay School, Saket, continues to empower its students to be the change-makers the world so urgently needs.
