Apeejay School, Saket celebrated National Mathematics Day with remarkable enthusiasm and boundless creativity, paying tribute to the unparalleled genius of mathematician Srinivasa Ramanujan, a self-taught genius whose work revolutionised mathematical theory and inspired generations of thinkers worldwide. Known for his profound contributions to number theory, infinite series, and continued fractions, Ramanujan’s brilliance emerged despite limited formal training.

Observed annually, this significant day honors Ramanujan’s extraordinary contributions to mathematics while underscoring its profound relevance in daily life.

This year’s thought-provoking theme, “Mathematics: The Bridge to Innovation and Progress,” vividly highlighted how mathematical principles serve as the bedrock for groundbreaking advancements in science, technology, and innovation. The school’s vibrant celebrations brought this theme to life through a variety of dynamic and hands-on activities designed to make mathematics exciting and relatable for students from Classes 2 to 9 and 11.

The event magnificently showcased the omnipresence of mathematics in our surroundings. Students explored captivating concepts such as identifying the golden ratio in DNA structures using floral arrangements, unraveling fractions in practical scenarios, and applying precise measurements to solve real-world challenges. Activities like transforming squares into stars and fitting circles into rectangles brought a delightful touch of artistry to geometry. Older students engaged with advanced ideas by investigating the intriguing relationship between slope and derivatives.

These enriching activities not only enhanced students’ comprehension of mathematical concepts but also kindled a profound sense of wonder and admiration for the subject. Participants were thrilled to discover the intrinsic connections between mathematics and the natural world, realising that math is not just a textbook subject but a fundamental tool shaping modern life.

The celebration epitomised the spirit of Ramanujan Day, promoting exploration, innovation, and the sheer joy of learning. By showcasing how mathematics serves as a transformative bridge to innovation and progress, the event inspired students to view the subject as an indispensable and fascinating aspect of life.

National Mathematics Day at Apeejay School, Saket, was an extraordinary success, leaving students with a deeper appreciation for the elegance and utility of mathematics in shaping the world around them.
