Recently, Apeejay School, Rama Mandi, organised an impactful and informative workshop to strengthen sanitary health awareness among girl students from Classes VI to XII. Held under the leadership of Mrs Loveleen Bagga, Vice-principal, the session was designed to provide young learners with essential knowledge about hygiene, nutrition, and the physical and emotional changes experienced during adolescence.

The workshop opened with an introduction to the importance of maintaining personal hygiene, particularly during adolescence, when the body undergoes significant transformations. The Vice-principal explained these changes in a clear, age-appropriate manner, ensuring that students felt comfortable and encouraged to understand their own well-being without hesitation or stigma.

A major focus of the session was menstrual hygiene. Students were guided on the precautions to be taken during menstruation, the correct use and disposal of sanitary products, and the importance of maintaining cleanliness to prevent infections. Practical tips on daily hygiene routines and safe practices were also shared, empowering students to make informed choices regarding their health.

Another key segment of the workshop highlighted the role of a balanced diet in maintaining both physical and emotional health. The girls received detailed information on nutritional needs during adolescence, particularly foods that help maintain energy levels, support hormonal balance, and promote overall well-being. Emphasis was placed on hydration, iron-rich foods, fresh fruits, vegetables, and the importance of avoiding unhealthy eating habits.

Throughout the session, students actively engaged in discussions, clearing doubts and gaining clarity on various aspects of growing up. The workshop fostered a positive and supportive environment, encouraging the young learners to prioritise self-care, respect their bodies, and seek guidance whenever needed.

Concluding the event, Mrs Bagga extended her heartfelt gratitude to the resource person for conducting like an insightful and student-centric workshop. She appreciated the effort invested in educating young girls about topics that play a crucial role in shaping their confidence and long-term health.

The workshop equipped students with essential knowledge about menstrual hygiene, physical changes during adolescence, and the importance of a nutritious diet. It encouraged them to adopt healthy habits, prioritise sanitation, understand their bodies with confidence, and make informed decisions that contribute to their overall well-being.
