
Apeejay School, Rama Mandi, Jalandhar, was awash with the vibrant hues of the tricolour as the entire school community came together to celebrate the 79th Independence Day with pride, passion, and patriotism. The campus resonated with national fervour as students and staff joined hands to pay tribute to India’s glorious journey of freedom.
The day commenced with the ceremonial flag hoisting, led by Principal Mr. A.K. Sharma, Vice Principal Ms. Loveleen Bagga, and student representatives. As the National Anthem rang out across the grounds, every heart swelled with pride and reverence for the motherland.
The celebrations began with a soulful medley of patriotic songs, invoking feelings of peace, unity, and gratitude. This was followed by an inspiring ‘Thought for the Day,’ reminding all of the sacrifices made by countless freedom fighters to secure India’s independence.
The cultural programme was a rich tapestry of talent and emotion. Students presented a gripping patriotic play that brought historical moments to life, followed by a high-energy dance performance that symbolised India’s diversity and vibrancy. A heartfelt poetry recital dedicated to the nation moved the audience, while a spirited quiz competition tested students’ knowledge of India’s history and independence movement, engaging participants and spectators alike.
In his address, Principal Mr. A.K. Sharma encouraged students to cherish the hard-earned freedom they enjoy today. He emphasised the importance of upholding national values, acting as responsible citizens, and contributing towards a progressive and united India.
The event was not only a celebration of the nation’s past but also a call to action for the future. It left every participant inspired to play an active role in shaping India’s destiny — united in spirit, committed in purpose, and proud to be an Indian.
