Apeejay School, Panchsheel Park celebrates science week with exciting activities

Apeejay School, Panchsheel Park, hosted a vibrant and engaging Science Week with the aim of encouraging students to explore scientific concepts through hands-on activities, creative projects, and interactive quizzes. The two-day event provided students with a platform to develop curiosity, problem-solving skills, and a deeper understanding of science in everyday life.

Day 1: A Journey Through Science and Sustainability

The first day of Science Week was packed with innovative and thought-provoking activities across different grades, ensuring that students of all levels actively participated in scientific exploration.

The students of Class 3 took a creative approach by dressing up as renowned scientists who have inspired generations. Through this unique activity, students not only learned about the lives and achievements of great minds such as Albert Einstein, Marie Curie, and C.V. Raman but also imbibed the values of perseverance and innovation. The young learners confidently presented information about their chosen scientists, making the session both informative and entertaining.

Class 4 students embarked on an exciting windmill-making activity aligned with Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 7: Affordable and Clean Energy. This hands-on experiment helped students understand the importance of renewable energy and energy conservation. As they built miniature windmills, they grasped key scientific concepts related to wind energy and its role in promoting sustainability.

Meanwhile, Class 5 students unleashed their creativity and critical thinking skills by designing informative posters on water conservation. Their posters highlighted practical ways to conserve water in daily life, with impactful slogans and eye-catching illustrations. The activity reinforced the importance of responsible water usage and inspired students to take small but meaningful steps towards conservation.

The students of Class 6 had an educational visit to the school’s solar panel installation, offering them firsthand exposure to renewable energy solutions. They learned about the working of solar power systems and the advantages of harnessing solar energy for a sustainable future. The session concluded with a discussion on global solar energy initiatives and how individuals can contribute to environmental conservation by adopting renewable energy solutions.

For Grade 9 students, a Science Quiz was conducted across all sections to test and reinforce their knowledge of Physics, Chemistry, and Biology. The quiz covered core scientific concepts and recent advancements, making the learning process both competitive and enjoyable.

The first day of Science Week successfully laid the foundation for curiosity-driven learning, problem-solving, and scientific awareness among students.

Day 2: A Cosmic Exploration and Scientific Discovery

The second day of Science Week turned into an interstellar adventure as students delved into the wonders of space science. Classes 6, 7, and 8 participated in a thrilling space quiz, which tested their knowledge of the latest cosmic discoveries. From NASA’s Artemis missions to India’s Aditya-L1 solar probe, students explored fascinating advancements in space exploration.

The quiz wasn’t just about competition—it was an engaging opportunity to ignite curiosity about the universe and encourage young minds to think critically about space exploration. The students enthusiastically answered questions, engaged in lively discussions, and broadened their understanding of astrophysics, planetary science, and the latest technological breakthroughs in space research.

While the middle school students were engrossed in the cosmic challenge, the students of Class 9 had a fascinating hands-on experience with DNA isolation. Using a standard scientific protocol, they successfully extracted DNA from different fruits, witnessing firsthand the building blocks of life. This practical experiment deepened their understanding of DNA structure, genetics, and its real-world applications in medicine and biotechnology. The activity provided a unique opportunity for students to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and real-world scientific processes.

A Week of Learning, Exploration, and Inspiration

The Science Week celebrations at Apeejay School, Panchsheel Park, were a resounding success, offering students a chance to engage with science in a fun and meaningful way. The diverse range of activities—from dressing up as legendary scientists and exploring sustainable energy to unraveling the mysteries of DNA and space—created an enriching learning experience for students.

Through hands-on projects, exciting quizzes, and scientific experiments, students not only enhanced their knowledge but also developed a deeper appreciation for science and its role in shaping the future. The event encouraged students to ask questions, think critically, and embrace the spirit of discovery—essential qualities for future innovators and scientists.

As Science Week concluded, the enthusiasm and curiosity it sparked in students ensured that the quest for knowledge and scientific exploration would continue far beyond the classroom.
