Faculty Development Programmes (FDP) play an important role in nurturing a culture of continuous learning and growth in academic institutions. Through FDP, institutions aim to promote teaching excellence, enhance research capabilities, foster innovation, and ultimately elevate the overall quality of education and student outcomes.

Aligned with this thought, Apeejay School of Management Dwarka in Delhi recently organsied a Faculty Development Programme on Outcome-based Education. A total of 15 faculty members from institutions such as Banarsidas Chandiwala Institute Of Professional Studies, Birla Institute of Management Technology, Birla Institute of Technology, Don Bosco Institute of Technology, IMS Engineering College, Don Bosco Institute of Technology, Kamal Institute of Higher Education & Advance Technology, and Mangalmay Institute of Management & Technology participated in the FDP.

Dr Alok Saklani, Adviser at ASM along with Dr Shweta Jha, Associate Professor at ASM were the resources people for the FDP session. They discussed themes such as understanding the concept of learning outcome, understanding Bloom’s Taxonomy, using Bloom’s Taxonomy for writing learning outcomes, understanding programme as well as course outcomes, writing programme outcomes, course outcomes from programme outcomes, and mapping course outcomes with programme outcomes. Fostering hands-on learning experiences, the participants participated in different exercises.

Mr Ashish Awasthi of Birla Institute of Management Technology (BIMTECH), who was one of attendees, highlighted, “The topics covered in the FDP were extremely relevant to all the academicians teaching at all levels. My own understanding of concepts like program educational objectives (PEOs), program outcomes (POs), program specific outcomes (PSOs) and course outcomes (COs) improved significantly. The session on Bloom’s taxonomy was mind blowing along with the exercises that were given. The next workshop in this series will be awaited”.

Another participant Ms Suma S. of Kamal Institute of Higher Education & Advance Technology mentioned, “The FDP provided a wonderful experience including a practical approach to learning outcomes with a series of hands-on worksheets.”
