Stepping into Apeejay School of Management (ASM) was a turning point for Khushi Kavra, an alumna from the Batch of 2025, who specialised in Finance and Business Analytics. Today, she is placed as a Credit Manager at Bharat Fincare, and describes her ASM journey as one filled with hands-on learning, supportive faculty and transformative peer interactions. In this conversation, she reflects on the skills she gained, the classroom experiences that shaped her, and the personality evolution that prepared her for the corporate world.

Read edited excerpts:

What key skills—both technical and soft—did you develop during your ASM journey?

ASM really strengthened my communication and presentation skills. I entered the programme as a shy person, but over time, the constant classroom discussions and project presentations made me more articulate and confident.

On the technical front, ASM played a massive role in preparing me for the finance sector. I learnt financial modellingadvanced Excel, and key tools such as Python and Power BI—all essential because I pursued Finance and Business Analytics. These tools helped me understand data-driven decision-making, which now directly supports my work as a Credit Manager.

Can you share one memorable classroom or project experience that boosted your confidence?

One unforgettable project was when our finance professor introduced a real-time financial modelling assignment. We had to collect real-world data, build a financial model from scratch, and present our strategies. Working in a group taught me collaboration, while the complexity of the task really pushed me out of my comfort zone. Seeing our model come to life was a huge confidence boost.

How would you describe the faculty support at ASM?

Extremely supportive. Our faculty teaching banking and financial statement subjects were always approachable. If we had doubts—even small ones—we could simply walk up to them. They made sure concepts were explained using practical examples, often backed by their own industry experiences.

How did group work and peer interactions shape you professionally?

Group projects helped me learn how to communicate, delegate and work harmoniously. We interacted not only with classmates but also with seniors and faculty members. Everyone contributed insights from real experiences, which made learning richer and more relatable.

In what ways has your personality evolved during your time at ASM?

ASM improved my self-awareness and emotional intelligence. Earlier, I hesitated to approach people, but now I can confidently speak with colleagues, managers or teammates. The environment made me comfortable with expressing myself and seeking help whenever needed.
