Remember the celebrated proverb, ‘Man does not live by bread alone’? Literature is what man lives by when the belly is full. Literature is the higher need that when fulfilled, elevates man into a higher being, who is able to coalesce his cognitive, physical and emotional selves into a spiritual being.
Schools since ancient Greece have focused on philosophy and literature as the highest disciplines to be learned by the administrators of society. Literature develops the mind and helps in understanding life through various portals and perspectives.

Apeejay School, Noida has always been aware about the importance of literature and has encouraged its students to pursue the same. The school students recently participated in the “Literary Saga 2023” event hosted by Apeejay School, Pitampura.
Rakshita Mishra from class 11-F won accolades for her exemplary performance in the event ‘Opinions Matter’. She bagged the third prize in the speech competition. Speaking about her achievement she stated, “We had to give a speech on the topic, ‘The first casualty of war is the innocent’. We were given a week’s time to prepare a two minute speech on the same.” She further added, “I gave an emotional account of children learning the epistemology of loss in a war. Bodies of loved ones piling up is a sight nobody is ready to see. The Second World War has taught us the end result of destruction and we must learn our lessons from that. ”
Aditya Singh Deo from class 12-F, Paarth Dullu from 11-B, Sanjivani Singh from 9-A and Atharv Gupta from 10-D participated in the event ‘Musings’. Yashraj Bhardwaj from 10-A took part in ‘Sting in the Tale’.
The literary saga event was an amalgamation of intellect, aesthetics and creativity of English Literature. It was a big success in boosting the student’s public speaking and critical thinking skills and sharpening their minds for the larger world.
