
In a dazzling display of skill and determination, students from Apeejay School , Nerul, etched their names in the annals of school sports history by securing gold in a fiercely contested inter-school badminton tournament. Abhinav Kumar and Ishan Amrit, both brilliant students of class 10, emerged as the champions of the doubles category, bringing immense pride to their school.
The prestigious championship, hosted by the Navi Mumbai Areas School Association (NMSA) at the Navi Mumbai Sports Association in Vashi, witnessed intense competition with participation from more than 30 schools. Abhinav Kumar, reflecting on his tournament experience, shared, “This being my first NMSA tournament, it was both exhilarating and challenging. Equipped with techniques honed during my training, I was able to navigate the matches effectively.”
He continued, “The semifinals posed the toughest challenge as our opponents exhibited exceptional coordination and precision in their shots. The tournament demanded rigorous effort, with 8 rounds to conquer en route to the final. Personally, I favour smashes and drop shots, and with consistent workouts and practice, I’ve refined these skills.”
Ishan Amrit, drawing from his prior tournament experiences, navigated the matches with confidence. He said, “Having participated in numerous badminton tournaments, I’ve tasted victory and defeat alike. This particular tournament boasted excellent courts and exceptional participants. Playing with a new partner was nerve-wracking, but our synergy proved effective.”
Ishan echoed Abhinav’s sentiments regarding the nail-biting semi-final encounter. “The semi-finals were intense, but our resilience paid off, securing us the victory. The finals, comparatively, were a smoother ride.”
With this significant victory, Apeejay School, Nerul, once again showcased its commitment to excellence across various educational spheres. The triumph of Abhinav Kumar and Ishan Amrit stands as a testament to their talent, dedication, and the unwavering spirit of the entire school community.
