Walking down the corridors of Apeejay School, Mahavir Marg, is like stepping into a time capsule for Arjun Malhotra. Teachers still greet him with the same warmth, sports grounds bring back countless memories, and the bond feels just as alive as it did decades ago. In this conversation, he opens up about his school life, his favourite subjects, and the values that have guided him in business. Read edited excerpts:
When you think about your school days, what memories come alive?
The school was excellent. Even today, when I meet the school’s non-teaching staff members or sports teachers, they greet me with the same energy. It feels like family. It feels sublime to think that they still remember me well and bless me with the same affection.
We heard you were tech savvy as a student?
Yes! Computers and Maths were my favourite subjects. I could study the computers for hours!
And sports too seemed to be an important part of your school life. Tell us more.
I played almost everything — basketball, volleyball, cricket, badminton. Sports were a big part of my time.
Did you always know you wanted to enter business?
– Yes, my family background is in business. After completing Class 12, I immediately started working. First, I tried garments, and later I shifted to the food business.
Do you stay connected with your teachers even today?
Yes, many of them are now my customers! Even my former Principal ma’am visits my restaurant, loves the food and blesses me. It’s a wonderful feeling.
