Students of Apeejay School, Faridabad embarked on a five-day adventure camp to the serene and picturesque Pangot in Nainital. Set against the lush backdrop of Uttarakhand’s hills, the camp was a perfect blend of outdoor learning and thrilling escapades. It offered students a rare opportunity to disconnect from screens and connect deeply with nature, their peers, and themselves.
Learning through nature and adventure
Each day at the camp was thoughtfully designed to push boundaries and build resilience. Students participated in high-energy activities such as zip-lining, rappelling, rope courses, and invigorating treks through the forested trails of Pangot. These activities were not just about physical agility but were powerful tools to instill teamwork, self-discipline, courage and problem-solving skills among the students.
The challenges also helped participants overcome personal fears and emerge more confident, agile, and self-assured. Through teamwork and mutual encouragement, students realised the strength of collective effort and the importance of supporting one another.
Evenings of bonding and joy
After adrenaline-filled days, evenings at the camp transformed into heartwarming gatherings. Bonfires, music sessions, storytelling, and team games brought laughter and strengthened the sense of community among the students. As they shared experiences under the starlit sky, many discovered new friendships and developed a sense of belonging that extended beyond classroom walls.
The camp was also a digital detox of sorts – allowing children to be fully present in the moment, absorb the beauty of their surroundings, and reflect on their experiences.
Beyond books: A holistic education
The Nainital camp stood as a glowing example of experiential learning – where education went beyond textbooks and boards. It helped students discover their inner strengths, develop leadership qualities, and understand the value of perseverance and adaptability.
