Apeejay School, Faridabad conducts tree plantation drive to foster environmental awareness

In an inspiring effort to deepen environmental consciousness and instil sustainable values in young minds, Apeejay School, Faridabad (Sector 15) organised a Tree Plantation Drive. The event, held under the guiding theme “Each One Plant One”, brought together students, teachers, and members of the Interact Club in a collective act of nurturing nature.

The drive was launched with an informative session that emphasised the vital role of trees in addressing the pressing issue of climate change. Participants were educated on how trees help absorb carbon dioxide, reduce pollution, conserve biodiversity, and maintain ecological balance. The gathering also highlighted the importance of taking small yet consistent actions to create a healthier planet.

A diverse selection of saplings and herbs

One of the unique aspects of the drive was the careful selection of native and useful plant species, chosen not only for their adaptability but also for their medicinal and environmental value. The saplings included Neem and Jamun trees, known for their air-purifying and health-boosting properties. Alongside these, aromatic and herbal plants such as Tulsi, Aloe Vera, Lemongrass, Zade, Jasmine, Hibiscus, and air-purifying species like snake plant were also planted.

In a nod to edible greenery, cucumber plants were introduced, encouraging students to understand the value of kitchen gardening and sustainable food practices. Over 40 saplings were planted across the school campus, bringing new life and colour to the green spaces.

Hands-on learning and student engagement

The event wasn’t just about planting trees – it was a hands-on learning experience. Students were guided on plant care techniques, including the amount of water, sunlight, and maintenance needed for each sapling to thrive. More importantly, every participant pledged to take personal responsibility for nurturing the plant they had sown. This fostered a deeper emotional bond with nature and taught important lessons in accountability and long-term commitment.

The drive concluded on a high note, with Mrs. Deepa Sharma, Academic Coordinator, expressing heartfelt appreciation for the students’ enthusiastic involvement. She commended their efforts and urged them to continue contributing to eco-friendly activities.

Such events not only beautify the school campus but also serve as powerful reminders of the impact collective action can have in building a greener, cleaner, and healthier future for all.
