The Apeejay Institute of Mass Communication (AIMC) recently transformed its campus into a hub of colour, music, and celebration as it hosted a lively Garba evening for its students. The event was a joyful expression of cultural unity, offering participants a chance to immerse themselves in traditional dance, music, and community spirit.

The celebration was designed exclusively for AIMC students, creating a safe and inclusive space where everyone could come together beyond classroom walls. As the rhythmic beats of Garba filled the air, students dressed in vibrant traditional attire added a splash of colour and excitement to the evening. The atmosphere was electric—filled with energy, laughter, and the infectious joy of celebration.

The event began with an enthusiastic introduction to the origins of Garba, a traditional Gujarati folk dance that celebrates devotion, togetherness, and festivity. Soon after, the dance floor came alive as students formed graceful circles, matching steps to the beats of dhol and folk tunes. Whether seasoned dancers or first-timers, everyone participated wholeheartedly, embodying the true spirit of unity and joy that Garba represents.

Faculty members and staff also joined the festivities, appreciating the students’ enthusiasm and the sense of community the event fostered. They highlighted how such cultural celebrations play a crucial role in promoting emotional well-being, teamwork, and inclusivity within the student community. “Events like these remind us that education extends beyond academics—it’s about building connections and memories,” remarked one faculty member.

The Garba night wasn’t just about dance—it was a celebration of togetherness and the institute’s commitment to nurturing a holistic campus culture. Students appreciated the opportunity to unwind and express themselves freely, calling the event one of the most memorable evenings of the semester.

Sharing her thoughts, faculty member from AIMC Mudita Raj expressed, “Events like Garba are more than just celebrations; they bring our students together, build camaraderie, and remind everyone that AIMC is a home away from home.”

A second-year PGDM student Varisha said, “The Garba event was amazing! Dressing up, dancing, and celebrating with friends made me feel a true sense of belonging at AIMC.”

Through such engaging student-led initiatives, AIMC continues to uphold its tradition of creating a vibrant campus life, where learning is complemented by experiences that strengthen personal growth and community bonds. The Garba evening truly reflected the institute’s belief that joy, culture, and creativity are integral to the educational journey.
