Apeejay Institute of Design (AID) recently welcomed its new batch of students with a vibrant and comprehensive orientation programme. This event marked the beginning of an exciting academic journey for the budding designers and set the stage for their creative exploration at AID.

The orientation programme was inaugurated by Ms. Reetu Betala, Advisor – Design Education at AID. Ms. Betala provided an insightful introduction to the institute’s functioning, outlining the various opportunities and resources available to the students. Her address was aimed at familiarising the newcomers with the unique educational environment at AID, emphasising the importance of “Design Thinking” in their academic and professional lives.

The event was presided over by Mr. Abhimanyu Mishra, the Chief Creative Officer and Founding Partner of BrandFizz and VCPL. Mr. Mishra, a distinguished expert in the field of design, conducted an engaging and interactive session with the students. He took the time to interact with each student individually, delving into their current understanding of design and discussing their aspirations. This one-on-one engagement allowed the students to gain valuable insights into the design industry, as Mr. Mishra shared his expertise on the latest trends and demands of the field.

A highlight of the day was a creative activity led by Mr. Mishra, which truly brought out the innovative spirit of the new students. The activity involved more than 30 students who were divided into groups and tasked with creating unique brand taglines for Nike. This exercise was not only a test of their creative abilities but also a practical introduction to branding and marketing concepts. The students spent the day brainstorming and collaborating, resulting in a wide array of imaginative taglines. The winning team was recognized for their efforts and awarded a gift hamper, adding an element of excitement and healthy competition to the day.

The orientation programme at AID showcased the institute’s commitment to nurturing creativity and innovation from day one. Established in 1991 with a strong focus on spreading the message of “Design Thinking,” AID has consistently offered a wide range of programs that cater to the evolving needs of the design industry. This orientation was a perfect reflection of AID’s philosophy, ensuring that new students feel inspired, supported, and ready to embark on their creative journeys.

The successful event not only equipped the students with knowledge about the institute and the design industry but also fostered a sense of community and collaboration among the new batch. As they move forward in their academic pursuits, the foundation laid during this orientation will undoubtedly guide them in their future endeavours.
