In alignment with the Government of Delhi’s city-wide civic movement, “Delhi ko Kude se Azadi”, Apeejay Institute of Design (AID), under the aegis of the Delhi Board of Technical Education, actively participated in the Swachhata Drive 2025 throughout the month of August. With the slogan “Rajdhani ki Swachhta, Vikaas hum sabka”, the campaign was not just about cleaning the surroundings but also about redefining civic responsibility and nurturing a culture of discipline, dignity, and shared ownership among citizens.

Campus-wide Cleanliness Initiatives

The action plan for the month included a wide range of activities aimed at cleanliness, orderliness, and sustainability. Students, faculty, and administrative staff came together in a spirit of unity to participate in Shramdaan—cleaning classrooms, workshops, and studios, as well as decluttering old records and files. The institute also carried out whitewashing, repair, and painting of buildings, ensuring that the physical campus reflected the ideals of the campaign. To further instil responsibility, both students and faculty took the Swachhata Pledge, renewing their commitment to the national mission of a cleaner India.

Slogan Writing Competition: “Communicating and Motivating Youth of Delhi”

Slogan Writing Competition was also organised as part of the AICTE Swachhata Campaign. The event encouraged students to channel their creativity towards impactful messaging on cleanliness. Participants came up with thought-provoking slogans in English and Hindi, underlining the role of youth in nation-building.

Judged by faculty members Ms. Anjali Taneja, Dr. Priyanka Shukla, and Ms. Divya Virmani, the competition saw enthusiastic participation. The winners were:

  • 1st Prize: Rehan Saifi (GDP-I Sem, Foundation) – “Apni Delhi Apna Maan, Safai Se Banta Desh Mahan”
  • 2nd Prize: Umar Bin Zubair (GDP-III Sem, Graphic) – “Kuda Hatao Delhi Se, Desh Bachao Jaldi Se”
  • 3rd Prize: Aanchal Jain (GDP-I Sem, Foundation) – “Mat Karo Sadko ko Ganda, Swachh Bharat hei Apna Agenda”

The entries stood out for their creativity, clarity, and relevance, reflecting the voice of young changemakers.

Tree Plantation Drive: “Green Delhi, Clean Delhi”

The institute also held a Tree Plantation Drive, reinforcing the message that a clean Delhi must also be a green Delhi. Students and faculty planted saplings across the campus, symbolizing purity, growth, and environmental sustainability. This initiative encouraged participants to become long-term custodians of nature while echoing the larger goals of the cleanliness movement.

Poster Making Competition: “Engaging Visuals with Clear Messages”

To conclude the month-long campaign, a Poster Making Competition was held in which students used colours, creativity, and design skills to create visually striking posters that communicated powerful social messages about cleanliness. The competition was judged by Ms. Gargi Neogi, Mr. N. Rajeshwar Singh, and Mr. Debyindu Tripathi. The winning posters, displayed proudly on the college boards, served as constant reminders of the role every individual must play in making the nation cleaner and healthier.

A Collective Commitment

Through these initiatives, the Apeejay Institute of Design not only contributed to the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan but also instilled in its students values of civic duty, social responsibility, and environmental stewardship. The Swachhata Drive 2025 was not merely an event—it was a transformative experience, reminding all participants that true development begins with cleanliness, discipline, and a shared vision for a better tomorrow.
