Students of the NSS Wing of Apeejay College of Fine Arts (ACFA), Jalandhar, showcased remarkable enthusiasm and national spirit as they participated in the Unity March (Padyatra) organised by the District Administration, Jalandhar. The march was conducted to commemorate the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel — India’s Iron Man and a key architect of national integration.

The padyatra witnessed energetic participation from NSS volunteers, who proudly walked together to spread the message of national unity, strength, and harmony. Holding banners and raising slogans, the students symbolically honoured Patel’s contribution to a united India and demonstrated the timeless relevance of his values in today’s society.

Principal Dr. Neerja Dhingra expressed immense pride in the students’ involvement. She shared that Apeejay College of Fine Arts consistently works toward shaping socially responsible citizens who are not only academically strong but also aware of their civic duties. She added that meaningful participation in such community initiatives encourages students to step beyond the confines of classrooms and understand their role in nation-building.

Dr. Dhingra highlighted that activities like the Unity March instill a sense of patriotism, discipline, and collective responsibility among students. She applauded the NSS volunteers for their dedication and zeal, stating that their participation demonstrates ACFA’s commitment to strengthening the bond between youth and nation.

The Principal also acknowledged the efforts of Dr. Simkee Dev, Dean of the NSS Wing, for her active encouragement and consistent leadership in mobilizing students toward community engagement. Dr. Dhingra appreciated Dr. Dev’s passion for guiding the youth toward meaningful social action and expressed confidence that she will continue to inspire volunteers in future initiatives as well.

The Unity March not only paid homage to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s legacy but also allowed students to gain a deeper understanding of unity as the foundation of a strong society. For the NSS volunteers, it became a memorable learning experience — one that reinforced values of national pride, social responsibility, and community participation.

With activities like these, Apeejay College of Fine Arts continues to nurture young changemakers who stand ready to contribute to society with awareness, empathy, and conviction.
