In commemoration of International Women’s Day, Apeejay College of Fine Arts (ACFA), Jalandhar, in collaboration with Rajeshwari Kala Sangam, hosted a splendid celebration to honour and salute the strength and resilience of women. The event showcased the remarkable contributions of women, highlighting the leadership and achievements of prominent figures associated with the Apeejay family.
Apeejay College of Fine Arts has been a beacon of inspiration, consistently setting benchmarks in various domains. Notably, the life and accomplishments of Mrs Sushma Paul Berlia, Chairman, Apeejay Education, and Chancellor, Apeejay Stya University, served as a significant source of motivation for women in the modern era. Mrs. Berlia’s numerous accolades in education and business have made her an exemplary figure, paving the way for women’s success.
The celebration commenced with the screening of the documentary titled “Leader of the Journey,” offering an insightful portrayal of Mrs. Berlia’s multifaceted life and accomplishments. Dr. Sucharita, Director of Apeejay Education, Jalandhar, shared her perspectives on the importance of recognising International Women’s Day. She emphasised the need to raise awareness about women’s empowerment and acknowledged the challenges many women face on their journey to empowerment.






The highlight of the event was the enchanting Kathak performance by Mrs. Vidha Lal, a renowned Kathak exponent of Jaipur Gharana. Mrs. Lal, honoured with the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award and a Guinness World Record holder, captivated the audience with her graceful performance. In her address, Mrs. Vidha Lal emphasised the strength of women, asserting that they can achieve anything they set their minds to, creating history in the process.
Further, the Department of Dance at ACFA presented a mesmerising choreography depicting the myriad roles played by women, from daughters and sisters to wives, mothers, and professionals. Additionally, six accomplished alumni shared their success stories, attributing their achievements to the valuable resources and mentors at Apeejay College.
Dr. Neerja Dhingra, Principal of Apeejay College of Fine Arts, expressed her privilege in leading the institution and lauded the influential women of the Apeejay family. She shared how Mrs. Sushma Pal Berlia, Dr. Neha Berlia, and Dr. Sucharita are recognised for their unwavering commitment to women’s empowerment. Dr. Dhingra commended the event’s success and extended gratitude to Dr. Amita Mishra and Dr. Manisha Sharma for their pivotal roles in organising the celebration.
The event concluded with the felicitation of Mrs. Vidha Lal and her team, symbolising the appreciation for their inspirational performance. Dr. Sucharita and Dr. Neerja Dhingra presented mementos as tokens of appreciation, concluding the celebration on a high note.
