‘Apeejay College has a very nice vibe,’ says design student’s father

Harsimar Kaur is a Bachelor of Design student at Apeejay College of Fine Arts (ACFA) in Jalandhar. She is pursuing Interior Design and is currently in her sixth semester. Harsimar plans on going for an internship/work experience outside Punjab or even India.

In a quick chat with her father, Mr Mandeep Singh, we learn about Harsimar’s progress at the college and also see how ACFA has shaped her design skills. Read edited excerpts:

How has Harsimar been progressing?

To give a typical Punjabi answer – sab good hi good hai. My daughter is going beyond her capability, I see her invested in her studies and projects most of the time. I see a lot of improvement in her, be it her aptitude, her skill set or mindset .

What skills have you seen her developing?

Lots of sketching, making interior designs and she also does a lot of 3D work.

Are the teachers guiding her well?

Great! She is among the highest scorers this semester. It is all thanks to the guidance and support of the teachers. Without their effort, it isn’t possible.

And how is the environment at the college?

Very growth oriented I must say. Everything is so encouraging there. I went there 3 years ago during her admission and I remember ACFA had a very nice energy.

Are there other activities in the college as well?

She is not much into co-curriculars but the enthusiasm of her classmates brushes off on her and she takes part in a few events as well.

Lastly, her future aims?

She is planning to pursue work experience either outside Punjab or even in a foreign country. We are still planning on that.
