Based in Gurgaon, she provides a glimpse into her role and how her education at Apeejay Institute of Mass Communication (AIMC) paved the way for her current career. Edited excerpts:
Harshita, please tell us what a regular work day looks like for you?
I am currently working as an Executive Client Service professional at Communique marketing solution, an experiential event marketing company. On a typical workday, I coordinate with clients, starting from the teaching and briefing phase. Then I prepare ideas and pitch them to the clients, overseeing the overall presence of the event, including its design and concept.
And how did you develop an interest in event management?
From the start, I have been interested in events. When the community marketing solution company came for the campus placements, I seized the opportunity immediately. This has always been my passion, although I can’t pinpoint a specific reason why.
Reflecting on your time at AIMC, how did it prepare you for your career in event marketing?
My time at AIMC was wonderful. I met many friends and received significant support from my teachers, who helped me through various stages of life, from hosteling to college life. I studied Advertising and Marketing Communication, where I learned media planning, advertising, and research, which provided a solid foundation.
Did the professors prepare you well for the campus placement?
Certainly. The professors prepared me well for placements, interviews, and group discussions and their lectures were incredibly well and it imparted so many lessons that still come handy. And utilising their tips, I also put in a lot of personal effort which resulted in me getting the placement.
Finally, where do you see yourself in your career moving forward?
For now, I’m happy to be part of the Communique marketing solution company. I prefer to take things gradually and will think about future plans as they come.
