 An engrossing session on  ‘Mitigating Major Cyber Threats’

Apeejay College of Fine Arts, Jalandhar hosts Faculty Development Programme

With an aim to foster knowledge sharing and enhance know-how on contemporary topics among faculty members, organising Faculty Development Programmes (FDP) are a crucial part of Apeejay College of Fine Arts (ACFA), Jalandhar. 

Thus, knowing the value of the same, The Jalandhar-based college recently hosted a Faculty Development Programme on the topic ‘Mitigating Major Cyber Threats’. The key resource person for the programme was Dr. Jagmohan Mago,  Associate Professor in PG Department of Computer Science. 

Expressing her views on the significance of the topic, Dr Neerja Dhingra, Principal of ACFA said, “In the contemporary times, the digital and virtual age has made life very easy but at the same time, cyber crimes have also  reached their peak.” She asserted that in this age it is easy to become a victim of cyber crime. So, we need to become  cautious and vigilant while using digital gadgets.

Addressing his views on ‘Mitigating Major Cyber Threats’, Dr Jagmohan Mago said, “It is the need of the hour for us to be familiar with the relevance and importance of cyber security in today’s everyday life.” Dr Mago also explained in detail about the situations in the cyber world in which one can become a victim and what are its dangers and also shared that if a person takes protective measures, they can prevent themselves from becoming the prey to cyber crime, for which the measures like antivirus, firewall, AI based encryption can be adapted in our gadgets. 

Further, he emphasised that if ever one  accidentally becomes a victim of cyber crime, then one must pursue its solution and not just suffer in silence. The faculty members also asked many questions on this burning issue of faculty development, which Dr. Mago answered satisfactorily.

Dr. Dhingra appreciated the presentation shared by Dr. Mago and also acknowledged the efforts of Programme Incharges of FDP – Dr. Anjana Kumari and Dr. Payal Arora for successfully organising the Faculty Development Programme.
