For Prerna Mehra, choosing the right preschool for her son Reeyansh Gautam wasn’t a difficult decision – it was more like returning home. How? Prerna and her husband are alumni of Apeejay School, Saket, and thus they were well aware of the values and nurturing environment Apeejay institution offer. Currently, their son is thriving in Kindergarten at Apeejay Rhythms Kinderworld, GK-II, New Delhi. In this conversation, Prerna shares her experience as a parent and how the school has positively impacted Reeyansh’s early learning journey. Read edited excerpt here:

How was the settling-in experience for Reeyansh?

Initially, he took 2–3 days to adjust, but the teachers and didis were incredibly supportive. Their efforts helped him feel comfortable and now he enjoys school thoroughly.

Have you seen any specific changes in him since joining the school?

Yes, he has started expressing himself better. He now tries to form sentences to communicate his needs. He also enjoys painting, coloring, and block-building – activities he previously didn’t show much interest in.

Any noticeable growth in his social or motor skills?

Definitely. He’s become more social and open to meeting new people. He also expresses himself better, even with grandparents. That’s a big leap for us.

Has there been any change in his eating habits?

Like most toddlers, his mood plays a role. But I’ve noticed he enjoys whatever is served at school, which is a huge relief!

Why did you enroll him in the summer camp?

I was excited about the variety of activities – dance, creative arts, and more. It’s a great way to keep his mind engaged during holidays.

Which activities does he enjoy most in the camp?

Creative tasks like coloring, pasting, and painting are his favorite. He watches during dance time but actively participates in all things artistic.

As an alumna, how does it feel to be back as a parent?

It feels nostalgic and reassuring. We’re familiar with the system and it’s comforting to see our child grow in the same safe and nurturing space we did.
