Second year students of Apeejay Institute of Technology – School of Architecture and Planning (AIT-SAP) put forth their artistic side at the semester end exhibition.
For the exhibition, students explored the concept of ‘Vernacular Architecture’ in their work. What Vernacular Architecture means is the use of local materials and traditional techniques for creating low rise homes. So this form of architecture involves not using expensive factory-made materials. In fact,traditional ways of construction are being used to design the same.
The exhibition was coordinated by AIT-SAP faculty members, Ar. Kanika Verma and Ar Shashi Singh. Sharing her thoughts, Ar. Verma said, “It’s amazing to look at the way these second year students have put together this amazing event by making the exhibition a spectacular show for the onlookers. A moment when all past sleepless nights have paid off.”
One of the fourth-year students, Shambhavi Mishra said, “Their efforts made us overlook the fact that we were in a concrete building. This exhibition made us celebrate the indigenous architecture of our country. The institute provided a common platform for budding architects to present their architectural works, discuss pertinent issues relevant for the profession, identify, promote, and instill various skills and talent.
Rakshita, a second-year architecture student at AIT-SAP said, “Self-belief and hard work always pay off, leaving one with a fruitful result. After all the hustle and bustle against the submission deadlines, we are finally able to make this exhibition a breathtaking show. And this was possible only because of the guidance of our mentors. We were thrilled and grateful to exhibit our work in front of the prestigious architects.”
