The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) is set to revolutionise technical education in India by integrating Artificial Intelligence (AI) into the curricula of all technical disciplines, including engineering, information technology, and management studies. This initiative aims to equip students with the necessary skills to thrive in an AI-driven world.

AICTE Chairman Prof. T.G. Sitharam announced that a committee of experts has been formed to revise the model curricula. The committee has already conducted three meetings and is expected to submit its recommendations within the next month. Following this, the updated curricula are anticipated to be finalised two months later, with AI-inclusive teaching potentially commencing as early as the next academic year.

The integration of AI will not be limited to specialised programs. Instead, AICTE plans to embed AI concepts across all branches of technical education. This includes interdisciplinary modules that focus on AI applications relevant to various domains, ensuring that students across different fields gain exposure to AI technologies.

In addition to curriculum updates, AICTE has made significant strides in promoting inclusive education. Approximately 1,000 textbooks have been made available online in 12 Indian languages, with around seven lakh downloads recorded over the past two years. Currently, 54 technical institutions across the country offer various courses in these languages, facilitating broader access to quality education .

This comprehensive approach by AICTE underscores its commitment to preparing a future-ready workforce adept in AI technologies. By integrating AI into the core of technical education and promoting multilingual resources, AICTE aims to foster an inclusive and technologically proficient educational environment.
