Mr. Sudarshan Kumar Dadwal is a retired Indian army Subedar Major Pharmacist (Army medical core). His wife Smt Neelam Dadwal is a homemaker. They are proud parents of Swapnil Dadwal, Apeejay College of Fine Arts (ACFA), BA Psychology final year student. In an exclusive interview, he shares his reasons for choosing ACFA, his son’s progress at the college and his future ambitions. Edited Excerpts:
Why did you choose ACFA over other colleges for your child’s admission?
Apeejay College of Fine Arts (ACFA) has a very high standard in education. Initially we got him enrolled in DAV Chandigarh. But then I got him transferred to ACFA since it is a better college when it comes to education and it is also in proximity to our home. Swapnil has adjusted very well in ACFA and his studies are going on nicely as well. We are all very happy.
Please tell us a bit about Swapnil and take us through his progress at school?
Swapnil is a boy of a very calm temperament. Yet he is sociable as well. He loves to listen to music. He likes to play cricket. He is a batsman and a fast bowler. He also likes to dance like the kids of his age. He is progressing very well in his academics. He got 92% in his fourth semester. He is a ranker.
I think the best part is that he is getting value based education from the college. There is education everywhere but one can’t be educated by just reading the books. It is the values that educate one, it is the “sanskaar” that makes the difference. I am very happy that ACFA is providing him the same.
Our elder daughter had done a post graduate diploma in psychology. She guided him and Swapnil also felt that there are good prospects in the field of psychology, so he chose this discipline. He also plans to give the CDS (military) exam after his graduation. He says, “I want to join the army as an officer”.
Are the teachers engaging well with the students?
Yes, the teachers are teaching very well. He does mention the name of one of his teachers quite frequently but I am unable to recall the name at present. He also tells us that the environment at the college is very nice and the teachers teach very well.
What is the best thing about ACFA?
Swapnil likes everything about the college. He was recently selected from his college for the Republic Day parade. He went to the camp in Jaipur for ten days for that. There are many good opportunities that one gets while at ACFA.
What is your perception about the online classes?
The online classes went very well. There were no problems with regard to his studies. Swapnil prefers the physical classes but he adjusted well in the online mode as well. The teachers taught very well and all the classes happened on time, regularly !
