Apeejay Institute of Management & Engineering Technical Campus (AIMETC), Rama Mandi, Jalandhar organised National Science Week to commemorate the discovery of the “Raman Effect” by the esteemed Indian physicist, Sir C.V. Raman. The theme for this year’s National Science Day, “Empowering Indian Youth for Global Leadership in Science and Innovation for Vikshit Bharat,” served as a guiding inspiration for the series of events held throughout the week.

The celebrations featured various competitions and hands-on learning activities aimed at fostering scientific curiosity, technological awareness, and innovation among students. Participants enthusiastically engaged in a Science Quiz Competition, a hands-on machine shop session, and the presentation of live working and mathematical models. These activities not only tested their scientific knowledge but also encouraged a research-oriented mindset.

Dr. Rajesh Bagga, Director of AIMETC, emphasised, “National Science Week stands important in developing a scientific temperament and research-driven approach among students.” He further encouraged active participation in such initiatives to stay updated with technological advancements and their applications.

One of the most anticipated events was the Science Quiz Competition, conducted via the Kahoot App in a “Fastest Finger First” format. The quiz challenged students’ knowledge in Physics, Chemistry, and Computer Science, ensuring a fun yet educational experience. The winners of the competition were:

First Position: Tanvir Singh (BTech CSE – AI & ML – II) & Nikhil (BCA – II)

Second Position: Tanish Kumar (BTech CSE – AI & ML – II) & Vansh (BCA – II)

Third Position: Jobanpreet Singh (BTech CSE – AI & ML – II) & Arsh Aggarwal (BTech CSE – II)

A hands-on session in the machine shop provided students with valuable practical exposure. This activity helped them apply their theoretical knowledge to real-world problems while developing critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Students explored machining techniques and gained insight into industrial applications.

The second day of the Science Week was dedicated to the presentation of mathematical models under the theme “Technology for a Sustainable Future.” Students showcased their ability to solve real-world challenges by creating innovative models. The winners of the “Applications of Mathematical Models” competition were:

First Position: Esha, Yogita, Yashica, and Himanshi (BCA – II)

Second Position: Jashanpreet Kaur, Priyanka, Jyeshtha Preet Kaur, and Tanvi (BTech CSE – AI & ML – II)

Third Position (Joint Winners): Davinder Pal & Jashanpreet Singh (BCA – II) and Manmeet, Nandini, Mishita, & Sukhmanpreet (BCA – II)

The week-long celebration successfully instilled a spirit of scientific inquiry and technological innovation among students. The enthusiastic participation and commendable performances showcased the potential of young minds in shaping a technologically advanced and sustainable future.
