A tribute to empathy, empowerment, and everlasting impact

Apeejay School, Model Town celebrated the 100th Birth Anniversary of Smt Rajeshwari Paul

Many notable individuals are remembered for their exemplary moral and ethical values. One such notable member has been Smt Rajeshwari Paul, the first lady of the Apeejay Stya Group and the esteemed wife of late Founder-Chairman Dr Stya Paul. 

On July 8, 2024, Apeejay School Model Town, Jalandhar, fondly commemorated the 100th birth anniversary of Smt Rajeshwari Paul. The Officiating Principal of the school, Ms Priyanka Grover, along with the staff and students, paid floral tributes to Smt Rajeshwari Paul, recognising her as the esteemed First Lady of Apeejay. 

Ms Grover read a heartfelt message from  Mrs Sushma Paul Berlia, Chairman, Apeejay Education, and Chancellor Apeejay Stya University. In her message, Mrs Berlia reminisced warmly about her mother, reflecting on her admirable life and illustrious achievements. She highlighted Smt Rajeshwari Paul’s unwavering commitment to promoting women’s empowerment and education, which left an indelible mark on Apeejay Education.

The event began with students being enlightened about the significant contributions and the inspiring life of Smt Rajeshwari Paul. Her dedication to social causes, particularly in the realm of women’s empowerment, was a focal point of the tribute. This was followed by a soulful rendition of devotional songs and the chanting of hymns, honoring the noble soul.

The school’s dance group then presented a beautifully choreographed semi-classical Kathak dance, captivating the audience with their graceful performance. The cultural programme was a poignant reflection of Smt Rajeshwari Paul’s love for the arts and culture. 

Following the cultural events, an art exhibition was inaugurated by Ms Grover. The exhibition featured an array of impressive artworks created by the students, showcasing their creativity and artistic talent. This segment of the celebration highlighted the school’s commitment to fostering artistic expression among its students. 

As a lasting tribute to Smt Rajeshwari Paul, a community service project themed ‘Empathy’ was launched. As part of this initiative, students visited the Khosla School for the Deaf. A drawing competition was organised based on the theme where students from both Apeejay School and Khosla School participated enthusiastically, expressing their creativity on canvas. All participants were awarded certificates of appreciation. 

The competition provided a platform for students to express themselves through art, fostering a sense of inclusivity and mutual respect. Certificates of appreciation were awarded to all participants, acknowledging their efforts and creativity.

Ms Grover, in her address, encouraged the students to follow the path of righteousness exemplified by Smt. Rajeshwari Paul. She emphasised the importance of empathy, compassion, and dedication to social causes, urging students to incorporate these values into their daily lives.

  The 100th birth anniversary of Smt Rajeshwari Paul was a heartfelt and memorable occasion, reflecting her enduring legacy and the profound impact she had on Apeejay Education and beyond. The event underscored the importance of education, empowerment, and empathy, serving as a reminder of the noble ideals she championed throughout her life. 

The day concluded on a sweet note, with sweets being distributed to all students and staff, adding a touch of joy to the solemn occasion. The commemoration not only honored the legacy of Smt Rajeshwari Paul but also inspired the students to carry forward her values and vision.
