In a world where fast food and unhealthy eating habits often dominate, promoting the importance of nutritious diets and healthy eating habits among children has become imperative. Recognising this need, Apeejay School, Rama Mandi, Jalandhar, took a proactive step by organising a Nutritious Diet Competition for Class I students and a Salad Making Competition for Class II students. These events aimed not only to sensitise students about the benefits of a balanced diet but also to foster creativity, culinary skills, and a love for wholesome foods.
The Nutritious Diet Competition for Class I students was a delightful affair, showcasing the collaborative efforts of students and their parents in preparing healthy and tasty tiffin boxes. Under the theme of “Cooking is an art of making food delicious by adding ingredients in the right proportion,” students presented a colourful array of nutritious meals, much to the delight of onlookers. From fruit salads to whole grain sandwiches, each lunchbox was a testament to the creativity and dedication of both students and their parents.

The competition not only emphasised the importance of incorporating essential nutrients into daily meals but also encouraged students to take pride in their healthy eating choices. The sight of children eagerly displaying their lunchboxes to others underscored the positive impact of such initiatives in promoting healthy habits from a young age.
Meanwhile, Class II students took center stage in the Salad Making Competition, where they unleashed their creativity to transform ordinary fruits and vegetables into works of art. With themes ranging from porcupines to salad women, turtles, and more, the students’ displays were as visually stunning as they were nutritious.
Through this competition, students not only learned about the nutritional benefits of different fruits and vegetables but also honed their artistic skills in food presentation. The intricate salad decorations served as a reminder that healthy eating can be both delicious and visually appealing.

Both competitions emphasised the importance of a balanced diet and the role of parents in instilling healthy eating habits in their children. By involving parents in the preparation of nutritious meals and providing students with opportunities to showcase their culinary creations, the school underscored the importance of a collaborative approach to promoting health and wellness.
Principal Mr. AK Sharma commended the students for their creativity and encouraged them to prioritise nutritional food for a healthy tomorrow. His words resonated with the overarching message of the competitions: that healthy eating is not only essential for physical well-being but also for fostering creativity, learning, and overall development.

“The Nutritious Diet and Salad Making Competitions at Apeejay School, Rama Mandi, Jalandhar, served as powerful reminders of the importance of promoting healthy eating habits and fostering creativity in children. By combining nutrition education with hands-on culinary experiences, the school not only empowered students to make healthier food choices but also sparked their imagination and creativity in the kitchen. As parents and educators continue to work together to cultivate these habits, the future looks brighter, one nutritious meal at a time,” Mr Sharma concluded.
